Also, what’s the closest thing to communication studies at Berkeley? Would it be rhetoric?
@intjer Media Studies.
@Cheolf right. I was actually looking at that. How close is it to being the same?
Just wondering, how many people are you guys taking with you to Bruin Day?
My whole family wants to come lolll but I don’t know if that’s ok
@intjer on the berkeley transfer thread someone posted about comparing the two
“Both are great, but I hear UCLA’s mass communication is better in almost every aspect. I think it’s cause it’s what mass communication is supposed to be. Media studies is more theoretical and history based according to my friends who applied to the same majors. For your case, UCLA seems to be the better choice if you’re set in majoring in mass communication. But both majors are great no matter what. Just look up what people have to say about media studies and compare it to what people have to say about mass communication. It seemed like night and day when I read about it not too long ago.”
Anybody whos going to the bruin day on 14th ? Is it worth going there by driving from SF (probably takes 6-7 hours)?
@gc51025 thank you. I didn’t apply as a comm major at UCLA though, so idk of its possible to switch into.
@jackpotgirl777 im going. From Sacramento. It’s about 6 hours with a stop or two.
@jackpotgirl777 I am! I’m from New Jersey and it’s about a six hour flight. I would hope it would be worth it haha
I received a call from someone at UCLA yesterday who said they had transfer info for me but I told them to call me back in an hour because I was in the car and could barely hear them. However, he never did call back (hopefully he does in the future though). I was just wondering if anyone else received such a call?
@1teenwolf no but I got a call from UCSD like that. Same situation too lol.
I got a call last Sunday and same thing happened. I was in the car and they asked if I had pen and paper to write some info down. They said they would call back. They called the next day and said they were calling me to welcome me and said congratulations and asked if I had any questions.
is it really that hard to get a university-owned apartment? I really can’t see myself living in the dorms :-S
Bruin day is so much fun! I really recommend you all go!
For those computer science majors,
I called UCLA to ask why my application was denied and they told me they sent me an e-mail asking for a scan of my transcripts, but I never received this e-mail and so I was rejected. Has anyone ever gotten this e-mail or heard of anyone not receiving it and being rejected?
@luckier1367 Too bad, my family have planned to go Vegas on that weekend long before my acceptance, and I can’t change their mind. I will not be able to participate Bruin Day, is there any similar event that I can make up?
Wow! I can’t believe Ucla asked for transcripts and you didn’t get the email. Sorry that’s awful. I know a lot of people at Ucla and they all told me when I was applying that Ucla never asks for anything until you have been accepted.
Hey guys! I could really use some of your guys opinions! I got accepted into UCLA as a Pre sociology major and I have all my pre requisites and GEs done with a GPA of 3.69. However, I just took my Micro-Economics final today and I think I totally failed it Dx I’m probably going to get a D. But I am expecting get three A’s from my other classes. I did the calculation and my GPA is expected to drop down to 3.63. I checked on assist.org and didn’t see anything about Micro economics being a requirement for my major, but I know that I have to still report any D’s I get to the admission. Do you guys think that I have my admission revoked to UCLA?
@aeraline, what does your admissions contract say? After you report your final grade, they may change your admissions contract or still allow your acceptance. There doesn’t seem to be enough evidence to determine why an admission at UCLA is revoked so it depends on whether they still want you (perhaps your PS was great!) or if they would rather have a wait list candidate instead.
If you do get a D, the best thing is to report the changes, and see what they say instead of waiting. @Aeraline
