@Cheolf does your grant amount change depending on which kind of dorm you live in? I’m assuming they wouldn’t give you more money for choosing to live in a nicer room like a plaza.
@csmajortom Unfortunately it does not. They only factor in the type of living. Your assumption is correct.
Anybody know if its possible to crash a closed course and enroll? most of the major courses i need to take are closed…
When you attend your orientation, some slots in closed classes will open up. This is done for each orientation date.
@Happy2Help forreal!? Thanks didnt know that. that makes me feel a little better !
Yes that’s what happened 2 years ago and I think last year. You should call the department advisor and ask about this for your major.
@boxlover
@Happy2Help is right about many classes opening up the day of orientation. For my major, Sociology, there were still not enough spots for everyone, and people still ended up with a lot of non-major classes. It just depends. Also look for classes that are cross-listed with a different department. For example If a Sociology course is cross-listed with a Communications course, there may be 75 Sociology spots and 25 Communcation spots. The Sociology side may be full, but there may be spots open on the Communications side. I was able to get into 2 filled Sociology classes 2 years ago at my orientation by doing that.
Also, crashing courses at UCLA is possible, but usually not likely. It all depends on the professor.
Anyone who is taking classes Session C wanna meet up and be friends?
Also, has anyone had success with any other outside scholarships? Tuition is still a bit too steep for me ! thanks
@luckie1367 What can you do with the UCLA recreation account?
@nicoley125 did you end up SIR’ing to UCLA for global studies?
Anyone here attending the July 18 orientation date?
@wannabeflower sign up for rec classes at Wooden/BFit
@luckie1367 Do students get discounts for the classes or are they free?
Is anyone looking for off campus apartments? (not uc-owned)
@Edirol I’ll be there. I’m already trying to fix my sleep schedule so that the 7:30 show up time doesn’t completely screw me over
@Edirol @xenoplanet definetly tell us how it went and what to expect. o: i srsly have no clue what to expect for orientation or how boring it might be. im doing the july 27th one. ://
is anybody else doing tsp here?
Does anyone know if we can still submit photos for the bruincard?
Yes should be OK to submit photos for the Bruin card and you should have time to pick it up at orientation.
2 years ago my D went to orientation and had a blast, no boring part of it, from 7:30am to 8:30pm. Try to get a list started with the classes you’d like to take, even if they’re closed online. Some spots will open up during orientation. You’ll need good walking shoes, water bottle to refill, and laptop or tablet to connect to Internet for classes. You should be paired up with others in your major – possibly your first friends! Remember, you are all transfers!
Have fun and explore the campus!
@wannabeflower Some things are free, most classes have a fee.

Ugh, I have debilitating anxiety: I am certain during orientation they will tell me my IGETC isn’t really done, I didn’t really finish all the courses on assist, and that my acceptance was a joke and then they’ll hand me a Burger King crown and I’ll walk away, crying.
Yep.
