@LbcctoUCLA17 i mean, theres only probably like 200 of us at most here on this thread that post actively on this thread compared to the other thousands of students who have also applied, so there are lots of other people who aren’t posting their scores/acceptances
@littlebuns true! it’s just I’ve scoured this thread and last year’s and it’s so sad to see that the cogsci majors that were active on the 2016 thread were denied sigh
I know getting an insight wouldn’t make sense right know as there is three days until descision s but what do you think about being an African American major coming from another Uc Davis will that be red flag to admission officer
Major at UCLA: Philosophy
Major at UC Berkeley: Legal Studies
Transfer GPA: 3.76
Pre-Reqs: Completed for UC Berkeley, Incomplete for UCLA
IGETC: Completed
Personal-Insight Questions: very strong
extra academic info: Deans List, honors program
extra curricular activities: sports, full time work, volunteer work
Schools Accepted So Far: UCI, UCR, UCSD, UC Merced, UC Davis, UCSC
Waiting on: UCLA and UC Berkeley
What are my chances?? :-S :-/ :-SS
@“osazuwa ogbeide” It depends. Have you found the acceptance rate between UC Davis and UCLA for UC to UC transfers? I know a few people who transferred from UC Merced and got into UCLA. But then again the transfer acceptance for UCM students applying to ucla was around 45-50 percent. UC to UC transfers are not impossible though and if you are applying to a non impacted major like Af-am, then I’d say you have pretty good chance of getting in.
Does anyone know why financial aid packages might vary? I received $6,000 in grants at UCD, but nothing at UCSB and UCSD…
@kors03 I think you’ll get into Berkeley a little less sure though about UCLA just cause I know how hardcore they are about having prereqs complete. But if you’re only missing like one I’m sure you’ll get into UCLA too you have a good GPA.
What do you think my chances are for a UC-UC transfer into chemical engineering with a 3.75 gpa? Do you think theyd take into account how much harder it is to maintain a high gpa in upper divs and engineering courses at UC Davis?
@Hunter097 Its really hard to transfer from UC to UC on like 5% of transfers are UC to UC. but im in the same boat
@LbcctoUCLA17 I couldn’t find Uc to Uc transfer rates but I found out that my gpa fall into that 25% to 75% range for admits. But my gpa is low it around 3.17 so that might hurt me.
@hunter097 why do you want to transfer out of Uc davis
@“osazuwa ogbeide” Ive always just liked the campus more for some reason but didnt get accepted out of high school. Its also closer to home and the weather is better lol
Philosophy, Anthropology, American Lt culture, gender studies and history majors are the most non-competive easy major to get in. People get in with 3.3-3.7 but I had classmate last year with 3.8 getting rejected with Philosophy major even with IGETC done and all major prep done. He took a lot of honor courses but i dont know if he was TAP.
@iwanttransfer Did he have 60 units and any ECs?
That classmate was either lying or could not properly write sentences in his application.
@iwanttransfer when I contacted ucla they said that there such thing as non impacted majors meaning non competitive majors. so every major is competitive
He had 68 units and he was in my project group for Phil class. He was reallly smart ended up helpinh me so much. He was so confident. Its true that there is bo such thing as non impacted major but people look at statistics since popular majors have 10-13% acceptance percentage while thoses non impacted we say ranges between 50-60%
@ozazuwa a UCLA rep came to my school and told me that some majors are “not as competetive” as others. Ofcourse, every major is competetive to an extent… But I think the admission office told u that so u wont go around telling people that ______ is an “easy, non-competeive” major
hi everyone ! I am new to this thread.
some of my stats:
Anthropolgy major
GPA: 3.56(Got a C in chem)
i have a bit of an upward trend. my gpa was high last semester(3.8)
TAP certified
I think my essays were okay. However, there may have been some typos. I rate my essays a 6.5/10
EC: volunteer at UCSD hopsital(45 hours at the time of application), president of cervical cancer awareness club in highschool, several volunteer hours feeding low-income families, beach clean-ups, etc. I was a tutor for low-income students; worked at chik-fil-a and a grocery store, student ambassador, etc.(theres more, but its too much to write)
I am pretty confident. I think TAP helps alot.
Accepted: UCSB!
Waiting: UCLA, UCB, and UCSD
@iwanttransfer its so crazy ur friend got rejected. if he did tap, he would have definately been a shoe in! im so shocked tbh
