FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@iwanttransfer He might have been TOO confident in his essays.

There ARE such things as non-impacted majors, there are no such thing as non-competitive majors because you are competing against other applicants. We don’t know his transcript or how many W’s he had, or how many retakes, or if his application revealed that he wasn’t actually interested in the major and was just applying with it to simply get in and planning to change it later, or if he only took like 3 units a semester, etc etc. We don’t know what the admission officers saw.

He could be like me, I thought I had 63 units, it wasn’t until UCSD and UCSB contacted me in April and told me I was actually at 59 till I realized that even though some classes are listed as transferable in my cc’s course catalog and say they transfer on the uc transfer application planner, doesn’t mean the schools will actually take the full sequence. There are so many scenarios, so we can’t judge this one exception/outlier.

or maybe some of his credits werent transferrable…

Hope so… he got into all UC except UCLA and UCB so he was thinking to stay for another year but went to SD

I was wondering if UC’s look at overall GPA (including non-transfer courses) or just overall transferable GPA?

UC GPA aka UC transferable courses. They can see your overall GPA, but they judge you based on the transferable coursework.

Thank you so much !!!

No probs

Would anyone be willing to chance me? I keep having nightmares that I’m rejected or something goes awfully wrong :((

@lsierra77 I have those too. I hate to say it, but being chanced won’t help make them stop at the point. It makes it worse. A tip for everybody: if you go to bed early, it helps speed up time! I haven’t taken my medicine in like 4 days because it keeps me awake. I feel awfully sick and I can’t focus but ayyeee time is flying! …but if you need meds, take them. this is awful lol. but, i had to pick my poison. 2 days and like 20 hours guys!

i like to think of last friday as like…a practice round…haha

i had a nightmare last night that i was rejected :frowning: lol

i’m dying over here haha @MiniGrace11

Wasn’t there supposed to be “maintenance” today on the MyUCLA website? Are there any changes you folks are noticing? I was at work earlier, so I couldn’t compare it to how it was before.

Omg same @xaul95… I’m so shook haha I haven’t been chanced (ever) since I just made this account on Saturday so I’m still curious to see what other people think my chances are regardless.

@MiniGrace11 SERIOUSLY. I’ve literally been prepared to go to sleep at 10 or 11 this week when usually it’s 1 or 2 :)) :((

Post your stats, we got chu @lsierra77

Essays:
I’d say between 7.5-10. I talked about radio being my greatest skill for one prompt, organizing a protest for another prompt, and discussed how my father’s sudden passing and development of a series of chronic illnesses all at once caused me to leave UCSB (where i attended straight out of high school for only 2 quarters) and how after leaving ucsb i focused on recovering emotionally and then managed to gain control over my illnesses and now feel much stronger, capable, etc than before (even though i am still sick)

So I’m slightly non traditional in that sense ^. I know my GPA is not a 3.9 or 4.0 but I explained how I was very distressed and depressed while at ucsb since my father passed away two weeks before the quarter started and I was going through a deep transitional period that prevented me from focusing on my grades as much as I would have liked to.

Applied to: UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB
Accepted: UCI, UCSD
Waiting for UCLA (communication studies) and UCB (media studies)

UCLA Admissions replied to someone on Twitter saying they “plan on releasing transfer admissions on the evening of April 26.”

@LynAmmo @lsierra77 yeah lol. it’s not easy but eating before bed helps. food makes me sleepy. My grandma bought me some cake to celebrate me getting into UCSD and UCR but I’m gonna save them in case I need food to cope (or celebrate) on Wednesday. TFT only talks 15 transfers and I am…very very very terrified. The fact that we get our decisions on my anniversary doesn’t help but hey…cake helps. cake ALWAYS helps. I’ve yet to have a problem that cake hasn’t solved, today! (the rest of my life…that’s debatable…)
