FALL 2017 UCLA OFFICIAL TRANSFER THREAD

@TransfertoUCLA Yeah, my counselor and I and even the UC transfer admission planner has me at 3.94, but UC Davis has me at 3.93. I know it’s just a point but… gimme my point.

aw man I didn’t apply there-- I wonder if it’s on any other UC apps?

@TheBayorLA Hi, I am!

Hey guys, I’ve been following this thread for so long but the nerves are just KILLING me. I only have ~3.7 and am a business major switching to Asian American Studies, but my cc didn’t offer most of the AAS classes, so I did all the prereqs for business instead. I struggled a lot with personal issues that affected my gpa (which I explained in my essays), and have a decent amount of work/ECs and an internship.

I applied with AAS as my first choice (with only one of the prereqs done) and second choice business, which I felt I don’t have much of a chance at…got accepted at UCSD, UCSB, UCI, & UCD for business/econ. The thing is, I want to do AAS at UCLA more than anything; does it look like I’m gonna be doing an extra year in cc? (Also, good luck to you guys!!)

@skyliners Did you apply to UCLA with AAS? Even if there are no prereqs offered at your cc for it you could still apply with it. If you did, I’d say you’re a shoe in.

do you think that TAP+nonimpacted major= a guarantee?? @lynnammo

@LynAmmo I did and thanks!! I figured if it doesn’t work out, I’ll take prereqs somewhere else first! Haha honestly I was feeling pretty good about it but everyone’s been telling me prereqs are important for UCLA and I haven’t even taken the one other prereq my school offered :confused:

I’m on the other end of the gpa spectrum.

Current School - PCC
Past School - University Of Hawai’i

Overall gpa: 3.16

IGETC: Complete

Major Pre-Reqs: Completed 1 of 2, will finish by the end of spring

EC: Volunteer - Peoples Core (World War 2 Filipino veterans awareness march) , Operation Gratitude, served as the PCN and Cultural Director for the Filipino American Student Assocation at school

Essays - 7.5/10 I did my best to explain the need and importnce for ethnic studies as well as my passion in AAS and my aspiration to become a teacher.

In Fall 2016 I had to take a W in my Japanese language course.

Applied: UCSD, UCI, UCLA, UCB, CSUN, CSULB, CSUF, University of San Francisco

Accepted: UCSD, UCI, CSUN, CSULB, USF

Pending: CSUF, UCLA, UCB

@LbcctoUCLA17 I’m pretty sure she was actually missing like 3… Reason being the CC I go to is so overly populated that it’s nearly impossible to get into some classes. I think she had to keep pushing classes back to the following quarters and ended up not being able to take some of the prereqs that were shown on assist.org. And I don’t believe she did TAP! She also wrote her essays the week she submitted so maybe they weren’t as strong as other applicants?

@YunggBibingka Eyyyyyyyy kababayan! :stuck_out_tongue:

@ifechi Definitely not a guarantee, though it definitely helps if you are borderline and gives you an extra chance to be considered with an alternative major. Your GPA and prereqs are most important than anything, also how impacted your major is plays a factor.

@lsierra77 From one Comms major to another, best of luck to you!! Communications is the HARDEST major to get into in the College of Letters & Sciences, so already props to us for putting ourselves out there. I really do think you have a good shot, though.

63 more hours guys

According to the most recent transfer matrix, “UCLA generally doesn’t consider students for their alternate majors.”

omg can anyone else vouch for what @transferdude17 ^ just said D; if it is true, I am screwed

@eden97 UCLA doesn’t consider your alternate major unless you’re in TAP.

@lexluther96 Good point; that might explain why I wasn’t awarded Cal Grant A
