Hopefully UCSD just decided to cut back on transfers this year for some reason, and other campuses are not affected.
Poli sci major!! Im super nervous as well i’ve gotten into everywhere i’ve applied so far (UCI, UCD, UCSB, UCSD) but i’m nervous about UCLA and Cal i don’t have too many E.C.'s
are they all going with a more holistic approach? i’m not half as qualified as so many of the people rejected from ucsd (especially by gpa and for my specific major), but i felt really confident about my essays. :-/ for a lot of the people on the ucsd thread, it honestly doesn’t make any sense??
I’m the exact same, pretty garbage stats but I felt really good about my esaays
@lexluther96 How do I calculate major GPA?
I’m a Political Science major as well.
I can’t believe in less than 24 hours most of us will know if we got in or not! So crazy. I honestly felt really confident about my stats and ECs until I started doing all this research on threads lol
@amunroeee Well if you’ve gotten A’s in all of the articulated pre-reqs (see ASSIST), then you have a 4.0 major GPA. Otherwise, to calculate it, give each A 4 points, each B 3 points, each C 2 points, and each D 1 point. Add all of them together, and then find the average. For example, two B’s and two A’s would look like this: 3 + 3 + 4 + 4 = 14 / 4 = 3.5
@MYgrdesAREgood thanks for the kind words
But, there are no guarantees in life. I’m just going to relax and try to get my mind off of the fact that we find out in roughly 22 hours.
Bring me victory TAP!
Is anyone thinking of checking while at work? I can’t decide if it’s a good idea or not…
@lexluther96 Thank you!
@lsierra77 Same here!! I seriously felt good up until 2 days when I researched like crazy. Now I feel sick to my stomach. I’m honestly debating taking tomorrow off work but it might be better to keep busy
@5HisLife Why is that? What makes you lean more towards Irvine? I got accepted to Irvines honors program and they offered me Regents…It completely caught me off guard, I wasn’t even thinking it’d be a possibility for them to offer it to me. So I’ve really been looking at Irvine like hmmm there would be a lot of pros with me going there…
I was just denied from UCSD because I am 3 quarter units short of the required 90. I filled out a course repeat form at my community college so I could keep my AP gov units, yet still take American Government to meet pre-reqs and have all units necessary. Im probably going to get denied from UCLA and UCB now. Santa Cruz emailed me and told me to take a summer course in order to meet the unit requirements to be a junior level transfer. Do any of you know if I have grounds for an appeal? Could really use some help
@LockeandLoad Seriously, I’m putting a lot of faith in TAP!
4.0 econ majors rejected from ucsd. I didn’t apply there but it’s making me even more scared about tomorrow :-S
At this point, Im scavenging every nook and corner of the web to find info on past years transfers with my major (computer science). The wait is literally making me sick and everything in my stomach is turning upside down. Oh, and 75 percentile of admittance for my major is 4.00 T.T
@evlinm1 uci offered me regents as well! I thought it was crazy. Unfortunately their literary journalism program is not great. I think I’m better off at ucsd for communication than at uci if I don’t get into ucla for communications and cal for media studies…
@evlinm1 Same! I got accepted to regents for Irvine too. Congrats on yours
@5HisLife I’m super curious as well what attracted you to Irvine, since it’s definitely an option for me if UCLA and Cal don’t work out.
Hey guys I know this isn’t the Berkeley thread, but no one talks over there and most people here also applied to Cal, could you guys give me some input?
Is anyone a history major here who can help me out?
Major Requirements:
Complete as many lower division major requirements as possible. See details on
preparation for this major below.
This is on Assist for History B.A. of Berkeley. If one of the pre-requisites was offered at my school, but I didn’t take it, would they reject me? When they say “as possible” do they mean for you, or if your school offers it, then you HAVE to take it? Is this considered “strength of preparation for major”?
@amunroeee yeah dude I felt like I had this in the bag! And then since like last Tuesday I started doing lots of research on peoples personal experiences and all that and lots of speculation got me feeling so anxious. I honestly felt great and then I saw the stats for my major and how impacted it is wnd now I’m worried even tho I feel like a strong candidate
