I can’t believe it :frowning: I was so ready (but also not) for this friday
I’m still going to check on the 21st as well…

Still will be at a Bar regardless!

at UCLA right now for the volunteer jury thing at their law school and I feel like dying. i love this campus so much. it aches how we have to wait a week more, but i’m so determined to go here. ugh.

26th!!! (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

@FaithGraceUC Was there any benefit of turning the app on the Nov 30 original deadline for those certain majors?? Or they don’t matter? I’m wondering which of those majors had the deadline now. Since my major’s impacted I decided to not risk with the extension and just submit it by Nov 30

@lostar it’s how you want to look at it. those who turned it in January does have a lower shot than those who made the deadline.

I remembered reading somewhere while applying that it was better to just turn it in before the 30th. It’s better not to risk it.

from what I’ve read, that only matters for schools that do TAG, so I don’t think it matters when you turned it in for UCLA (or UC Berkeley and UCSD for that matter). Can anyone confirm? @JaketheSnake13 how do you know those who turned it in after the original deadline have a lower shot?

I think I read it from somewhere. Can’t find the source anymore

The problem was they didn’t explicitly say which majors would be extended-- so imagine waiting for the extension and theyre like “this major closed on November 30”

for those of you who… for whatever reason… are able to access your myUCLA…
Anything going on there?

Don’t see anything different on there… In past threads people were talking about a housing trick. Anyone know what that’s about?

I dunno-- those threads are so old, I’m sure the website has been updated since then

holy shit? Did I miss the original november 30th deadline? I didn’t know that the extension offer was offered the 2nd of december…? I remember working on the application as early as October though? I SWEAR I would have seen something like this. I filled out all the information and left the personal statements for last, I blocked off the entire third of January, because I need the pressure to work well.

if you’d like the official UC quote

“6. Is there an advantage to applying by November 30?
Although the transfer application review process will not begin any sooner than normal, our data
show that students that applied during November were admitted at a higher rate last year than
applicants who submitted during the extension. In addition, some majors will likely fill up with
those who have applied during the priority application period. As a result, it is in an applicant’s
best interest to apply by the original deadline if possible.”

So, the way I take it is that this is correlation and not causation. Students who stress timeliness and are generally more on their game will likely have better grades, and be more likely to get accepted. There are plenty of anecdotal posts of students saying that they applied the last day of the extension and were accepted.

wow. I feel like an idiot.

edit: looking at the source document, which unfortunately, I can’t link, the document is dated October 31st? I wonder if I saw the email and then put it out of my mind for a while. Probably. I can’t imagine it would effect my chances, as my major has about 1300 applicants, they definitely didn’t get through those in the month of December alone.

i don’t think it would be a penalty if its after nov 30, it’s just an extension for CCC and other school students. i turned mine in jan 3 and i got into UCSB and my application was receive and no issues to it for any of the UC’s. tbh that would be really unfair to penalize people if they extended it to help people

@juliamarie15
It pissed off a lot of people that turned their apps in early (or before the announcement?) Can anyone confirm when the extension was announced? I just went through all of my emails and found out that I started the application the 19th of November, and seriously doubt that I would have put it off had the extension not been offered prior to the original due date. I prefer to save things for the day or so before, paralysis by analysis if you will.

edit: they announced it after the nov. 30th deadline in 2015, not 2016, pretty sure it was offered from the start.

@Chocstraw The extension was announced on November first this year because a lot of people were extremely angered that they announced it last minute the previous year.

I mean, I doubt that they started to review applications before January 31st, as thats when they get fall grades. Hopefully it won’t negatively affect those of us who submitted in the extension. It does seem its more correlation than causation, as better prepared candidates are more likely to turn it in before the original deadline. Hopefully I’m right.

@Orangered123

Was November 30th referred to as the ‘priority deadline’?
