@chocstraw I’m pretty sure it was. Though the term priority deadline doesn’t matter to UCLA or Cal. It confused me a lot. It mainly mattered for school’s that had TAG and such. I ended up calling Cal’s admissions office for confirmation that it didn’t matter to them since they’d be reviewing the applications at the same time.
You know the decision date is coming up when you log into collegeconfidential to see 200+ notifs LOL
@chocstraw i feel like an idiot too because I listened to some bad advice from a counselor at my cc. She told me I MUST finish IGETC, and to get whatever major preps I can done. I checked this info at the time on the art dept website which has the major preps listed, and it doesn’t say anywhere that it should be completed at the cc, and I also talked to the art department director who said to “just get to the major preps that I can.” I am missing one that isn’t offered, and two others, because I was taking science to fulfill IGETC… Now I find out that IGETC matters less than major preps. I called the UCLA art dept director again today and she said the same thing, “get what you can done,” etc… For some reason it is either that I was given completely bad info or the art department is not as strict on that point as other majors. I definitely feel like it made me less competitive tho, when I originally felt really confident.
But then I got a call from UCLA (I kinda think it was a student talking) returning my call asking about the open house invite (@lucidday, Ive also seen those threads, thank you for rooting for me! :D) but she told me that the invite was sent to ALL transfers recommended for admission, which surprised me because from other threads it looked like it was only sent to a few transfers and you can get in without receiving one… She was basically saying if you didn’t get one, you’re not in, which is not the info I found online.
Long story short I am crazy confused. I am thinking that the art department is either playing by different rules or I got some bad info and wasted a whole year! I feel like I am just awaiting a rejection letter right now. I am gonna get started on reapplying right away though, I have ideas for new pieces and I’m actually not too upset. But at this point I don’t see how I would be accepted.
@misskelseyk Wouldn’t the art department care about your portfolio way more than they care about GPA and the specific courses you have taken? One of my best friends is planning to apply to Cal Arts and he told me you only need a portfolio to apply.
Hmmm. I don’t see a problem then. I’m going with my original assertion that any difference is because of correlation and not causation.
Anyone know if checking an alternate major was bad if you didn’t qualify for TAP? I think I specifically said I didn’t qualify for TAP, but checked Economics as my first choice and then checked Business Economics as my second choice, simply because it was there and prompted me to enter something. I didn’t check ‘no second major choice’ just because I figured the system would take care of it. Maybe this was a careless assumption, but I’d guess they just won’t forward the application if the first choice gets rejected. I don’t even think you can choose business econ as a second choice.
@mightyMETA I’m thinking that’s probably the case… I guess I’ll just have to wait and see
Lol my bad guys I was too quick to judge. I just looked back on the posts and realized what the shenanigans was about.
Please keep in mind that UCLA has declared similar statements in previous years, so it may be a fallback option for them in case they do not meet the friday admission date.
Just read on my Schools App for UCSB someone said that they just took a tour at UCLA and they said they were told decisions will come out the 28th. Any validity to this guys? Or are we sticking with the 26th? I don’t know what to think anymore I just want to know and be free already from the waiting.
@williamyang Could you link to a site suggesting they’ve lied about the date?
@mightyMETA
Cite a source? On College Confidential?
Yeah, uh, my brother’s friend’s cousin is a janitor in the admissions building and he told me XYZ
Call 3108253101 if you don’t believe the 26th figure.
@chocstraw Yeah, you can’t pick Bus Econ. The alternate major is a backup just in case you don’t get into the more impacted one. I think Bus Econ is even more impacted than Econ, if I’m not mistaken. If you didn’t do TAP then they’ll just disregard what you listed, so it doesn’t matter anyway.
@mightyMETA I called this morning, it’s the 26th. I’m still checking on Friday, but at this point I’m drained. My counselor told me back it March it’s the 26th I just didn’t believe her. Met with another counselor in April, she said it’s the 26th.
Do your assignments ahead of time, it’ll distract you at least for a bit.
@LynAmmo Ya it’s a bit annoying, for me I think it works because if I got in I’d just be studying real analysis over the weekend instead of physics and stuff xd
@mightyMETA The timing for me is perfect. I’m at home alone on Wednesday, so if I don’t get it in then I can curl into the fetal position with ice cream and Netflix rather than doing a night shift at work on Friday haha. The annoying thing is I can’t start planning out my life until I know and I like to start planning ahead of time, go shopping for dorm stuff, buy UCLA merch. This is a blessing in disguise though so I can finish all my assignments ahead of time and THEN start planning. Cause once I start I can’t stop B-)
@maluminati Decisions are coming out on the 26th at 5pm. If you call the admissions department there will be a pre-taped message which mentions this
I have a test on the 27th so this is bad timing for me lol. Lord help me!
I’m leaving town the 27th to visit my mom— I will arrive at her house very happy or v bummed
Being the unbelieving, skeptical person that I am, I will still check at 5pm on the 21st.
i have multiple doctor’s appts next week so its gonna be a bad week from start to finish if my blood pressure and heart rate read abnormally high i know what to blame it on though lmao
People who have been able to log into MyUCLA, can anyone access summer enrollment classes? I haven’t tried to register but I can browse through the names of classes, professors, number of seats available, waitlists, etc. o_o
@williamyang what’s your stats?
