FALL 2018 UCI Irvine Official Transfer Thread

@theScreen Hey man did you end up appealing to UCR?

@dbxstian hey no I didn’t i decided I’m gonna apply for the winter quarter because I’m missing quite a few classes for the major I want so I’ll twke those in fall!

@Rajshah26 UCSD is a top 20 CS school in the nation

I’m seeing a few people mentioned they got rejected despite having a TAG. Is that true? Or did they get info (like an update of grades since your tag got approved) and that voided the TAG?

And didn’t see a lot of specific info about today’s Transfer Day (but did see that registration had closed). Was going to go, but there’s a major paper to write this weekend.

Just got a letter in the mail telling me I was awarded the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship from UCI. I was admitted for Econ with a 3.82. Did anyone else get this?

@metafisicas did you apply for it, or were you a part of any program like the honors program?

@1jellybeanaway rejected from tag despite completing all pre-reqs and maintaining 3.4 - I had a 3.41 fall and it went up 3.46 spring update so no clue why they voided it at all. even emailed them and no response.

Got the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship
Econ 3.93
Wasn’t part of honors program

Also received the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship
Pharmaceutical Sciences 3.74

my only guess is that transfers with high GPAs will get these scholarships in the coming weeks as they award financial aid. mind if I ask what the scholarship amount is? @rh1016183 @mxhx18 @metafisicas

@yelloww I hope you get a reply soon and hopefully a reinstatement. I thought the point of the TAG was to know what you have to do, and if you do it, you’re in. If you haven’t sent in your final grades for this current term, how would they know you don’t have the gpa (if that’s the problem).

One more question @yelloww, did UCI accept your tag last month, or were you still waiting to hear about your tag?

@1jellybeanaway Exactly, such a mess /: I actually accepted my offer at UCSD triton day lol so a reinstatement at this point doesn’t matter as much anymore but still, it’s something that really bothers me and I want an answer.

UCI never accepted my tag other than acknowledging that it was received and to wait until april/may for decisions. I even messaged a counselor to make sure my tag was valid and they said it was received and to expect decisions to come out soon, which I took as a sign that there were no issues.

@JUROD211 Hey there, sorry for the late reply. The scholarship awards me $4,000 my first year as well as $2,500 my second year. In addition, I would be guaranteed housing for two years.

@yelloww that makes me feel better. That means accepted tags aren’t being withdrawn (at least not until final grades are sent in, which would just determine if one fulfilled the tag agreement).

@JUROD211 I got the exact same award amounts as @rh1016183 as well as the same guaranteed housing. I didn’t apply for it or do honors or anything. My only ECs were from high school. Top 25% admit GPA for my major (econ) is 3.9 and up* and mine was a 3.82 so I’m guessing essays were part of the selection criteria.

Has anyone not received their financial aid award? I haven’t yet and Im wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me. I have all my documents in and on time and they have not requested any more information.

@Schooliscool100 UCI doesn’t give financial aid offers until mid-May

Hey, I got waitlisted for CS, and I don’t know if I should appeal. I failed math 2, but I am retaking it right now in the spring quarter. Should I appeal and tell them about my grades, or should is it better to wait it out after I pass this class. I hope someone can help me with this.
