FALL 2018 UCI Irvine Official Transfer Thread

Does anyone know how much tuition+ room and board is for the year of 2018-2019; I couldn’t find it online.

@Schooliscool100 There is an estimated amount for the 2018-2019 school year for undergrads. Here is the link:
https://www.ofas.uci.edu/content/costs.aspx?nav=1

Also, in case any of you missed this important message on the award page:

“Systemwide tuition and fees for 2018-19 have not yet been determined. The tuition and fee levels used in these awards are estimates based on 2017-18 systemwide tuition and fees. All figures are subject to change. If different 2018-19 tuition and fee levels are approved by the Regents before the start of the school year, your costs will change and your financial aid award, if any, may be adjusted.”

For anyone who completed their FAFSA and is eligible for Cal Grants…I called the financial aid office yesterday about when it would show up on the award and they said to check back in June. I believe the Blue+Gold is already included in my UCI grant because they haven’t processed my Cal Grant A yet but my campuswide fees were covered. The representative told me that if you receive a Cal Grant they will add it to your award and reduce your UCI Grant. For example, if your UCI grant was 18,000 then they would take out 12,630 (Cal Grant A) from that amount. So your UCI Grant would show up to be 5,370. Hope this helps anyone

Hey guys I just accepted as a CS major at UCI while opting for waitlist at UCSD and UCLA. I dont want to SIR UCI yet because I believe I have a fair chance for getting into UCSD. It’s my dream school!
Anyway I just got my financial aid and it said “accept your awards as soon as possible”. 1- Do I have to SIR necessarily in order to get the awards? And if not How much time do I have for not accepting the awards and wait for UCSD decision to come out which is probably by the end of the May. 2- In case of accepting UCI award, does it affect my FAFSA plan and UCSD’s financial aid?
This is the first time I’m posting a comment and I really appreciate your valuable information guys. Peace :v:

You can SIR now and should, because getting off a waitlist is more unlikely than likely. If you get accepted off a waitlist and want to switch just SIR the new one and then withdraw the first. SIR the second before you withdraw in case it’s past the deadline and there’s a glitch. It will not hurt your FA.

Did any waitlist people received their unofficial financial aid award? I received unofficial award from other school which I am also waitlisted but not from UCI. I see that admitted people received theirs…

Just to throw this out there,

Blue and gold isn’t a grant rather it’s titled an “oppurtunity plan” because it’s combining the free aid you get like grants and uc/ state scholarships to be sufficient to cover tuition fees. Not to say that’s all the aid people get when they qualify for the blue and gold.

Hey guys is it okay to turn in the official high school transcripts to UCI in person? or is it better to just send mail?

Is anyone here a Literary Journalism major? I’d like to connect!

You should do it through Parchment

Is anyone who got off the waitlist yet?

I wouldn’t think so @CitrusExtract they seem to be set on releasing wait list decisions until after June 1 which SUCKS

what is the diff between psb and psych? Also, when do we get to enroll for classes?

I heard someone from IVC who was on the waitlist got off the waitlist

For those who have a TAG, did the admissions office sent you a notification or posted something on your portal that you’ve cleared your TAG (after you’ve sent your final transcript from your CC)?

@1jellybeanaway I’m not sure what you’re asking. If the TAG was successful you’re already admitted. If you’re on the waitlist, then the TAG was unsuccessful and you were rolled over to regular admission.

If admitted, you simply send the transcripts. TAG will not contact you again. If you have a D or other disqualifying event, it will be up to admissions to decide your fate.

The reason for the question is that to make sure that there weren’t any technicalities. Her first year was at a CSU, that doesn’t have an articulation agreement (per the assist website) so not sure if any of those classes were being considered (for the computer science requirements, GE requirement). Fortunately, her final GPA for the two years (yes,it took that long to get the rest of her classes, given rotten enrollment appt. times and the lack of enough seats for all the physical sci majors there) was over 3.4 (and would be higher if any of the grades from her freshman year gets counted as she had a 4.0 there).

I just don’t want a nasty surprise, especially as she’s already signed up for summer classes and housing, and has only until this Friday to SIR to UCSC if needed.

So the question still remains (addressed to those who TAGGED), do you get a notification or does your portal change to reflect that you have fulfilled your TAG after UCI gets and review your final transcript from your CC?

I TAGGED. But certainly others can respond.

@1jellybeanaway Hi! I don’t know if this helps but I got an email today saying welcome and congratulations on fulfilling TAG. However, I didn’t send my spring grades in, so my guess is you’ll never be safe until the check marks for the transcripts appear and you’re able to register for classes just fine.

Thanks. The final transcript got sent but there’s always that concern that some technicality will pop up, despite surpassing the required GPA and finishing the one specific course that was mentioned in the TAG (undoubtedly part of that “four courses” requirement as this class isn’t required for the major).

hey guys
Is it mandatory to include igetc certification in the official final transcripts? I already requested my igetc certification but i don’t know when I will get awarded. It didn’t say anything about igetc certification on the UCI website, just “send official transcripts: Irvine Valley College”. Does that mean I need to send igetc certification with the official transcripts?
