Congrats everyone who got in! I got into UVA CAS and rejected from Emory today.
HS GPA: terrible, probably 2.0 not sure
Priv NJ Uni GPA: 3.64
VCCS GPA: 3.86
President of STEM club, some ECs, worked alot (4-5 jobs throughout the year), essay was pretty good (I talked about how I slacked off in hs and how I improved since then)
I was out of state in NJ, went there for 1 sem bc the area was so sketch and then transferred to vccs for 3 sems which made me an in-state applicant for UVA!
Accepted into the College of Engineering. I wanted to post my stats if anyone in the future was checking the past thread. I had no info found for financial aid this whole time, and I applied for financial aid before the deadline and filled out the FAFSA and CSS profile on time.
College GPA: 4.0
Random Community College
Out of State Student
HS GPA: 3.89 (IIRC)
ACT: 30
Major: Electrical Engineering
Essays: I revised them a lot and tried hard but I am not a great writer probably 7-8/10
Extracurriculars: 6/10
LOR: I assume good, I waived the opportunity to read them but the professors I asked know how hard I work
I also had a question, in my letter of acceptance it says: “Admission is granted to individual schools and not specific departments within the schools. Please check major program web pages carefully and contact major program directors if you have questions about program pre-requisites.”
Does this mean I have to apply to get my major? I applied and was accepted into the college of engineering. If I do have to apply for it is it competitive?
I would really appreciate it if any of you could explain if you know how this works. I was really nervous about this decision and congratulations to everyone who got in.
