Fall 2020 Yale Transfer Thread

Yeah, I am looking to transfer into an Ivy league school sometime from a UC, and Yale is there since I have family in Connecticut.

I have not gotten an interview unfortunately

yes

@treeslinger9 I emailed a HS transcript like weeks ago, and then I emailed them again last friday to ask them if they had it, and then they found it and marked it in my portal. So just email them again and ask.

@jianxue If you don’t mind me asking, when did you submit your application?

@jianxue Are you from a traditional 4-year or a community college student or military?

I submit my application right before the ddl. and I come from a traditional 4-year college. Nothing special really. Hope the info helps!

Please stay positive as they might be sending more invitations this week! And never let a college’s decision define you - as someone who’s been frustrated in the past.

If possible, could anyone who completes an interview w/ AO please fill us in on how it went and what it was like? Your outlook and take on the interview? Haha, I’m simply just curious and excited! I’m guessing the interview took place over Skype?

Also, interested to know which residential college everyone thinks is the best (top 3 please and reason why for each). Should be interesting, considering the recent addition of 2 new residential colleges.

Please do let us know if you get an interview

Hey there! I just found this thread and I am super excited about it! It is really nice to meet you all! I am a cc student trying to transfer out to Yale. If any of you completed the interview, please keep us posted. I also have a question. Did your interviewer send you an email telling not to wear professional attire and that they’re gonna wear comfortable clothes instead? Just curious haha

I did my interview recently. I dressed semi-formally but the interviewer dressed casually so I think it would be okay to go into the interview with casual attire, but that may have just been my case. To provide some background info, I’m currently a first year at a T10 peer institution, I submitted my application on 3/1, and I did not complete the StandOut interview.

Are you requesting aid? @rejectedguy

What kind of questions did they ask you? Were they intimidating? @rejectedguy

What did other students who interviewed think of it?

I wonder if they’re interviewing students from peer institutions only? I feel like we have more to prove as to why our schools are different than yale. I go to a t10 peer institution as well and had an interview. just putting that out there, because that could mean no interview isn’t necessarily a bad thing!

I didn’t request for finaid, but I don’t think that matters bc isn’t Yale need blind? The interviewer wasn’t intimidating at all—they just asked me about my application and reasons for wanting to transfer.

Yeah, I was thinking schools that are usually need blind might be need aware this time because of what’s happening @rejectedguy so I’ve been worried about that because I requested aid.

I applied for financial aid and got an interview - but Yale is need-blind so it wouldn’t really be a factor. As others said, the interviewer was very nice and they just want to know more about you as a real person.

@jianxue @veggiewok @rejectedguy what questions did they ask you?
