Fall 2020 Yale Transfer Thread

So if you didn’t get an interview with an admissions officer it’s likely over?

No I wouldn’t say it’s over. I know someone who transferred successfully into Yale without an interview, so I wouldn’t say not getting an interview necessarily means you’re out of contention already.

i guess we will see soon… ;-; @nickvader7

most like tho, rip to those of us who did not get an interview (this includes myself). we made it this far, so be proud of yourselves

Hey again everyone! I see there is a lot of stressin here. Okay, so honestly, I think there are four reasons why someone was not offered an interview.

  1. They impressed the admissions office incredibly and they are a clear admit and don’t need an interview
  2. They were very thorough in their application both in expressing their personality, and also explaining their extracurriculars and how they would continue them at Yale and the application is sufficient for more consideration
  3. They would not be a good fit for the university :frowning:
  4. They did a fantastic job answering the questions on Standout and they were able to assign a personality to the application and re-review materials

After reading about some of you here, and reading some of what you posted in other threads, I honestly think most of us fall in categories 1,2,&4.

Also, don’t quote me on this, but I think there were students other years who were admitted w/o an interview, so don’t worry too much!! We get accepted, we get accepted. We don’t, well we did the best we could and perhaps we have everything we need at the place we are currently at to do all we want to do at Yale. I mean at this point, we have to be resilient and flexible, especially with the Zoom University movement…

*Ps. In no means am I trying to discredit the value of an interview for those of us who have received an offer. It is a huge deal and I really wish I got one!

Sending lots of good vibes these next weeks :))

@rejectedguy What year was this person accepted to transfer to Yale w/o interview?

@albright2855
I appreciate it! Please keep us posted when you hear back.

@Agoodnewjersian Thank you so much for your positivity radiating in this thread! We all need encouragement during this time.

@treeslinger9 Absolutely!! This is my 4th time applying to colleges because I’m a non traditional student and at this point I’m so used to being rejected - got rejected from literally EVERYWHERE the first two times!! It all honestly works out in hindsight :slight_smile:

@Agoodnewjersian is this your third time applying to yale? Yale accepts a max of 3 tries

one things for sure, after this transfer cycle we will all know what getting an interview really means! I believe this year we’ve had the most # of people on this forum get an interview for transfer durring any other cycle. It will be clear soon.

It was pretty recent. They applied two or three years ago if I remember correctly.

@worksmart65 It’s actually my first time! Anyways, what’s everyone’s major?

@rejectedguy Hmmm, was this person traditional, CC and/or vet? If traditional, was this person from a top 10 4-year institution?

Traditional but not a T10

Hey guys, do you know when we will be receiving decisions? I think in the past years it was on May 10th, but this year it’s a Sunday so I’m wondering if it’ll happen then. Let me know if anyone hears anything. I appreciate it! We’re almost there, God bless you all!!!

I think it would be Friday, May 8th since May 10th last year was a Friday, as well.

They should be updating us by the end of the day since the “release by” date is in 9 days.

oh hmmm realized my college report was never sent in… is it worth it at this point to contact the admissions office about it?

@strawbrryale

definitely you don’t want your app to get withdrawn or something
