I also think that t20 students generally tend to be better applicants
New poster here, but I’ve been reading this thread the past couple of months. Wanted to sprinkle some positivity in your lives because so far along in the process, and with everything else that’s happening, there’s really no point in stressing out. Some of us will get accepted and some of us won’t, but reading a bit about ya’ll, I know that 100% of us are gonna be happy wherever we end up next year
Good luck these next few weeks, and take lots of good care of yourselves!
@axxj12 I got an interview and I’m from a CC, I also know someone else at my CC that got an interview. Doesn’t look like only t20s to me.
So does it mean then if you are from a T10 and did not get an interview with an AO, then you are out of the running? I just wish they would be transparent about it!
I wouldn’t say you’re out of luck already; didn’t someone call admissions and find out that they’re still sending out interview invites until the end of this week? My guess is that they’re probably sending them out as they read them.
Yeah, this is unfortunate. What was the point of the standout if they were still going to do this.
What counts as a T20 school? Like what ranking system do they use? US News?
@albright2855
By any chance, could you email the Director and ask her what an interview w/ an AO means? And if not receiving one means anything? You could even reference this thread and say it’s a question on behalf of us all. HOWEVER, I do understand if you feel uncomfortable asking, hence, no worries! Merely a suggestion for a chance to clear up everyone’s suspicions. Thanks
I don’t think at all that t10/t20s make stronger applicants. nor do I think yale would only admit those students because of covid 19. Yale and other top institutions are very clear that they use the transfer process to put forward institutional values, namely of equity and inclusion. meaning that if you are a non-traditional student or come from a CC, you have a way more compelling reason to transfer. unless you have a very real reason to transfer, aka programs/majors are non existent at your school or personal reasons, transferring from a top 10 / top 20 to another top 10/ top 20 is going to be harder. This is what I’ve been told from the guidance counselor at my HS. obviously taken with a grain of salt!
According to the Yale common data set, 1,254 transfer students applied for the Fall 2019 semester, 27 were accepted and 21 enrolled.
Hopefully, Yale will accept more transfers this year.

this transfer year is exhausting. also some schools are hitting record low acceptance rates for transfers… ucla hit 7% i think
3500 or 3600 out of 24000 acceptances
Hey, I hope you all are doing well! I haven’t commented before but Ive been staying up2date on the gossip. I didn’t expect to be locked inside while waiting for my results and though some of the information on this thread is stressful, it is nice to know that I’m not alone in my anxiety! Thanks for keeping me sane.
does someone know when decisions are expected to come out and if they’re rolling? Thanks!
She said that they will most likely finalize their decisions by the 24th of April. Most likely doesn’t mean definitely…
huh, in my interview they said theyd finalize decisions by may 1
I have some other questions to ask her, so I will add it to the list.
I know in 2018 and 2019 Yale released their decisions on the 10th of May. I highly doubt they will be releasing their decisions on time this year…
So basically all interview invites are sent out?
tbh it seems too late for anymore interview invites to be sent out, unfortunately
Most likely…
