Fall 2020 Yale Transfer Thread

I think the interview is there so applicants can use it as a pedestal. Some applicants I’m guessing weren’t able to submit midterm reports or other materials bc schools closed down. And it’s for their own help to better know candidates.

This interview’s only there to help you. I’m going to do it soon, I’ll post the questions I got once I’m done.

If anyone does it early please maybe comment on how the interview was or any weird questions you may have got

I got the email also.

@goldencountry Sounds good! Please also note if this platform allows one to re-record their responses, should they feel the need to. Only asking bc I believe theirs another interview platform that allows one to re-record as many times until they’re satisfied.

I’m confused… are we supposed to be receiving a separate email from StandOut or is the email we received from Yale Undergraduate Admissions the only email we’re getting?

@worksmart65

I’ve used similar software for job interviews and they let you do 3 practice question or so, but for the actual interview you only have one shot.

Same question lol -

Yale still processed my college report and it’s frustrating me - my college sent it three times already since February so ugh

Kinda also finding it funny how alive this forum became once the interview things went out today lol

got my separate email just now

Hello! I also just received the separate email. Do you guys know what types of questions might be asked?

Hey guys,

I got one as well. If you guys do it, can you please post what type of questions you are asked. Thank you so much.

Does anyone else feel like they’re using us as Guinea Pigs to test this interview method for the next admission cycle?

This same exact thing is happening to me, but with my high school transcript instead. I first sent my transcript before the deadline. I got a confirmation from Parchment saying it was sent and that Yale received it. When I was able to access the applicant portal, everything had a check except my high school transcript. I waited a little more, and it still said it was awaiting. I called Yale, and they said to wait and that they haven’t downloaded everything yet. Waited, even more, checked back, and it’s not there. I called undergrad office again, and the person I spoke to looked for my transcript and said it was nowhere to be found. She gave me a Form Upload link and told me to call my high school directly and tell them to upload it. My high school uploaded it, I called admissions again and spoke with the same lady, and she said that she would download it. I check my portal again a week later and it STILL has an X. I tried calling again for literally a whole week, and no answer. I guessed they were closed and so I sent an email explaining the situation. It’s been 8 days since I sent that email and I haven’t gotten a response, and it still says my high school transcript is awaiting. I am really annoyed and don’t know what to do at this point because I know they are either already done with reviewing applications, or they are in the middle of the process.

@jazziscool Im in the same boat! Yale won’t update my hs transcript as received. I am so stressed as I don’t want this to have a neg impact on my chances.

Do you guys think they have already viewed all transfer applications? Or do you think they will start soon? I believe 2 AO check each application before, if selected, being presented in front of the committee.

It’s so annoying because I can’t even get in contact with them!!

@jazziscool yeah no point in calling now. They’ve been closed for the past 2 weeks due to the unusual circumstances.

Communication via email has been spotty as well.

Don’t worry because they said we have till mid-April to get all our materials in. Meaning, they’re probably trying to get everything settled as well. The office - and Yale itself - have been disrupted by the virus just like any school or anyone else has. They’re office is closed so the office is trying to work remotely which usually isn’t bad or hard for most modernworkplaces but since there an Admissions office they have paper mail like transcripts and stuff they need to do work so being in the office is best for them and fastest

Do you guys know what they usually ask in interviews because this is going to be my first interview ever.

Hey everyone! I’m glad to see that there is a Fall 2020 Transfer Thread. I did get an email saying that I can do an interview via StandOut. I’m a bit confused because I’m getting mixed messages. Did every single transfer get an interview or was it only a select few?

Has anyone tried practicing? idk why but I’m scared to even do that hahaha

@EsmeR15 I am pretty sure everyone got it
