I’m not Eli Whitney, just a normal applicant!
@veggiework ah interesting! While I don’t really know what that means, I wish you the best of luck!! You got this!!
Thank you so much! @plasticpore
that’s a VERY good sign. Even on Yale’s website it states that only select applicants get a live interview. Best of Luck!!!
To anyone who has done the online interview, are you given any time to think after the question is posed? or do you have to answer right away? ?
@veggiewok that’s definitely a good sign. Was the email from the actual AO? Did you do the standout interview?
also found this out: people who applied in last year’s cycle said if you don’t get a live interview then that’s not a good sign. everyone who got in last year had an interview with an AO
I’ve honestly given up on Yale. They still don’t have my transcript. I don’t know what to do at this point.
One of my professors still hasn’t submitted the letter of recommendation. Do you think they’ll still review my application?
@jazziscool - hey bro, yah i asked them about the college report which says missing on my portal as well - im pissed too. they even emailed me saying that they would add it in but it hasnt been.
imma call them too
@heyigotnoclue I should give them a call too. They are making this unnecessarily complicated.
@jazziscool @heyigotnoclue
Same boat! But who can you call?? Their office is closed.
@veggiewok
Did you do the standout interview?
I just did the Standout interview.
Basically, there’s four questions and you get two minutes to answer each. You actually do get as much time as you need to think of an answer before you record.
There’a a video you have to first click play on that asks the question, and once the video is done, it immediately starts recording your answer. BUT, a 3-5 word summary of the question is above the video so you already kind of get an idea of what the video is going to ask before you press play. The format is the same as the practice.
I got a question about diversity, community service, Yale’s curriculum, and how I’ve recently tackled a challenge!
@breezycola Hang on, you got time??? mine automatically started o.o
I didn’t get time after I actually clicked record, but because the basis of the question is already above the video itself, I got time to think of an answer. It just gave me an idea and I practiced for what I felt the actual video would ask
did anyone else receive a live interview? (I didn’t
did you get that info from admitted students? did they say “everyone”? From last year’s forum I saw two admitted without an interview, and someone who got a Skype interview was rejected.
Thank you @breezycola
@malkovsky so basically he was a transfer as well. He got admitted and matriculated. What he told me is if you don’t get an actual interview then that’s a bad sign. everyone he met there as a transfer said they got an actual interview but it’s very odd that during this time they’re still doing interviews because we were given the standout. I’m really curious to see the email.
BEFORE EVERYONE FREAKS OUT, the deadline for the video interview has not passed yet and im sure they are still waiting to make a final decision on who gets interviews.
we are good. relax
Thank you! yeah I can see the Skype interview is definitely an indicator of our chance being admitted. but who knows? this process is enigmatic.
