S24 applied 9/17 and is waiting to hear. Anyone hear anything. yet? If so, when did you apply?
Well his ears must have been ringing, he just texted me that he checked his portal and was accepted.
Congratulations! Do share your S24’s stats if that’s ok. What major, Aid, etc?
I believe my Daughter applied around the end of Sept-23 and found out via email on 10/16/23 that she was accepted via rolling admissions directly as a Marketing major. It was followed-up with an acceptance letter two days later (today). She has a 3.80x GPA from a well regarded public school in Ohio that sends a fair number of kids to UK. Did not submit a test score.
She’s excited. She’s an equestrian but doesn’t expect to ride on the school team (maybe Club though). It’s probably between UK and Miami University although won’t hear from MU until 11-15 thru 12-31. Her high school tracks where all their students apply, their GPA’s and test scores and whether were admitted (pretty awesome information) and she thinks she’ll be admitted to MU, too.
Kentucky thread seems surprisingly inactive…? Questions - kid applied in early January, what are the rolling admissions timelines looking like? I’m assuming it will be an acceptance, given stats (out of state, 1440 SAT, 3.5 uw (adding in first semester grades), good rigor. My questions is about out of state merit aid (Fall 2024 Freshmen | UK Student Financial Aid and Scholarships). We missed the December application deadline for the “academic” scholarships - but I’m unclear if kid will still be considered if they receive admission. At 3.5 uw and 1440 SAT that would qualify for the Bluegrass Spirit award. (GPA was slightly under 3.5 before first semester senior year grades added in).
DS applied EA end of Nov and received an acceptance in mid December. His stats are about the same as yours in GPA and SAT, OOS. We’ve not heard anything on merit. HTHs
Thanks - what major?
Exploratory in Business.
I have no idea how good this school/program is. US News ranks the business school #70 – a tie with Clemson, NC State, Rutgers and a slew of others. But I never hear of Kentucky, and there’s no postings on CC
Thanks - just heard (about 5 weeks after applying) of acceptance - also into exploratory business/econ.
We just went to the campus tour last week & they said in order to be considered for merit scholarships you had to apply by December 1st. My assumption was nothing would be awarded after that date.
Update: I don’t think so (fortunately!) - my student who applied early Jan just received a merit offer (out of state) about a week after the acceptance arrived.
I’m curious to know if anyone whose student applied for competitive scholarships by the 12/1/23 deadline has heard anything from UK yet?
My daughter has not heard anything, but many of her friends have gotten the Blugrass.
Bluegrass is out of state, right?
We’re in-state and was hoping for something by now, but so far crickets.
Yes I think Bluegrass is out of state. According to the website the in-state scholarship has a different name (Provost). I thought these scholarships were automatic and that the Competitive scholarships weren’t. I may be wrong.
My daughter did receive notification that she was admitted to the Honors College, but still nothing about scholarship of any kind.
Yes, he received a Provost award in line with his GPA/ACT a couple weeks after admission. When applying via the common app, he checked the box to be considered for competitive scholarships (Presidential) and submitted the required essay but hasn’t heard anything about that yet.
Congratulations to your daughter on getting in the Honors program! Mind if I ask how she was notified? I expected my son to hear either way, but we haven’t seen anything yet.
Thank you! She received notification on February 15. A message was sent to her regular email account (not uk).
Good luck to your son! Waiting is hard.
Upon further investigation after your reply, he resurrected the honors program acceptance from his personal email. I’m so glad you mentioned that, I’ve been checking with him daily to make sure he’s monitoring his UK email account thinking it would be there. Thanks so much for your help!
That’s great! Congratulations to him!
Hi all! My daughter is considering U of K very seriously. Does anyone have any insight into rush? Also, does anyone know if a lot of the students go home on weekends or are there enough out of state that stay on the weekends? Thanks!
