Fall 2024 St Louis University

Starting a thread ---- personally waiting on the 3-3 DPT acceptances, but also interested in talking to other parents who are considering SLU!

Hello again! I just checked my son’s portal. It has a new letter there dated today, but it still says his DPT is being reviewed (same as the last few weeks). I haven’t opened the letter. Will wait until he comes home.

I did email his admissions counselor this morning to see if we are still on track for this week. I haven’t received a response as of yet.

Yes us too!! Woohoo! The waiting game is coming to an end…

Update: My son was admitted to the 3+3 DPT. We plan to visit now. The financial aid offered is compelling. Just waiting for Boston. Won’t know until end of March. Ugh.

Son accepted too!

And Yes! SLU offer is giant. It brings it less than in state Texas schools for us. It’s awesome. Hubby bringing the boy to visit in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed!

Yes, cost will be on par with going to the in-state school, CU.

Congratulations to all those accepted! :blue_heart::white_heart: I have a sophomore daughter in the DPT program. She is loving the program and SLU in general. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Thank you. My son’s mom has expressed concern about St Louis. She grew up in a rural environment. I grew up in ann urban area and don’t necessarily share those concerns. Wherever he goes, he needs to be smart and not put himself in bad situations. I read some of your other posts about safety, which I shared and which were reassuring. We will visit, likely in March.

I have lived in the suburbs for 25 years and definitely was nervous about the urban environment especially with SLU being in a more industrial section of town. D22 wasn’t concerned at all which also made me nervous. She has a good head on her shoulders though so I knew I could trust her to make safe decisions. She takes the metro, bus and runs all around STL and has not encountered any issues . Her friends have all had a similar experience. Speaking of her friends, I don’t think you could find nicer more genuine people.

She is benefiting tremendously from being in an urban environment that offers many opportunities in and outside the classroom. D24 is headed to an urban school too and I am thankful she will have that experience too.

For those admitted to PT program, we went to the PT admitted student day(I think it was on 4/1) and that was so informational and helpful in solidifying that SLU was the right choice for my daughter. I highly recommend trying to make it for that specific day.

I looked, but didn’t see a DPT-specific day. That would be good, I think. I also looked to see if their web site or literature said where the upper/grad level classes were held. Do you know if that is on the main campus? If off campus, do you know how far? Some schools we looked at have it on the main campus, and others have a separate campus. Most provide shuttles if it’s on a separate campus.

Also, any recommendations on hotels near campus?

I would email or call the PT program as I can’t imagine they won’t have a DPT admitted student day.

The graduate classes are on South Campus which has all the health sciences schools. There is a shuttle and it’s a 5 min ride. D22 has had at least one class on South campus each semester. She likes going over there- it’s a really nice campus. There is an outdoor track there and also a cafe run by the nutrition students that has delicious healthy food. D22 actually got a job there this semester.

As far as hotels, my favorite is The. ElementIt’s a quick walk to campus and is pretty new, modern and clean. Their breakfasts are really good and they also have a happy hour. I’ve also stayed at the Angards Arts hotel- it’s more funky

oh good! I just happened to book the Element for the hubby/son visit thats in a few weeks. If he likes it, we will definitely go back if invited to a PT admitted students day. Luckily there are lots of nonstop Southwest flights between Austin and SL. (Was also a needed criteria looking at schools for us!)

Well I am sad to report that he didn’t like SLU. Hubby wasn’t keen either. They couldn’t put a a finger on why. Sad we didn’t do an admitted students day or something. Especially since he just got Micah Scholar and was invited for the MLK scholarship weekend. Once he makes up his mind he’s done too.

They are off driving up to Depauw for admitted students day. He said he has a good feeling about this one lol.

Marquette DPT still in the running. Going to make the trek for another visit there probably.

Best of luck to potential Bilikens!

Any presidential scholarship interview weekend feedback/suggestions

I’m sorry that your son and husband didn’t think it was a fit. It’s funny how sometimes you know it’s a big yes or a big no within just a few minutes on being on campus. For both my daughters, we all knew very quickly where they would likely end up (if admitted of course). Wishing the very best for your son. The Marquette DPT program seemed great- D22 just didn’t like the campus as much as SLU’s and also liked the the prospect of a bit better weather in the winter.Hope DePauw is a good visit !

Thank you! Yes you’re right. He said he knew right away. But probably would have been better to do a rah rah admitted students day to give it a fair shake.

Side note - he LOVED DePauw. He ranked it above Marquette. They have a great kine program so he would just have to do the regular path for that… and if he doesn’t like it, there are lots of majors to move to! Now we wait till he picks!

Thank for the support in this process! Best of luck to your kiddos in their college adventures!

We’re headed to SLU for admitted student day on 03/25 and to Marquette for admitted student day on 04/13. Hopefully, after the Marquette visit, we will have all the financial aid packages from the different schools to compare, and he can then make a decision.

My son just received his acceptance to the business program with $36k scholarship - better than Marquette.

I wish SLU also have an admitted student reception here in Southern California. Gonzaga, Seton Hall and UNLV all have admitted student reception in Orange County and Downtown LA.

Has anyone heard back after their Presidential scholarship interview? The website says we would find out early March and well that has passed.
