Hi…posting here as well as the Transfer category… Didn’t see anything recent about transferring to to UVA for this Fall 2024. My son is waiting to hear and we expect the decision to come out at the end of next week. Curious if anyone else is also waiting and why they would like to transfer there. I have mixed feelings about it for my son as he is a not a party animal, doesn’t like Greek life and is a bit of an introvert…and is happy to study most of the weekend. Thoughts? Thanks!

I’m in the same boat as your son. Not sure where he is currently but I am a NOVA student getting my A.S. in mathematics in two weeks or so, anxiously awaiting notification for Fall 2024 transfer. I figure decisions will be released either Friday 4/26 or Monday 4/29; those dates seem to be consistent with past years. I was admitted to W&M just earlier today; if I get into UVA I’ll definitely have a decision on my hands. I like UVA because it’s inexpensive compared to some other options, they have strong academics, and are generally regarded as one of the best public schools in the country. I don’t know a ton about the culture, but they definitely a pretty campus. I wish your son luck! Would love to hear a bit more about him; is he an in-state or VCCS applicant too or applying from elsewhere?
You got into W&M? I also applied there and I haven’t heard anything yet. Is it rolling?
I received their cypher postcard in the mail. I knew literally nothing about it before getting one and was very pleasantly surprised. It’s essentially a quirky, very-likely letter. It isn’t technically a formal admission offer; apologies because I wasn’t clear with that. Directly from W&M’s website “It means that, if you receive a postcard, we anticipate sending you good news this Spring. You’re awesome, and we want you to know it. While this postcard is not a formal admission offer (admission offers will be released by April 1), it does mean that, unless your academic or personal record DRASTICALLY changes between now and April, you can expect a bigger, and similarly positive, package in the mail from us in the spring.”

Also, UVA just officially announced transfer decisions are coming out the evening of 4/29 (next Monday). Best of luck to your son; I hope he is admitted!
Sorry for the delay…my son also applied to W&M. Hmm…and yes UVA will now be out Monday. He is in state going to a NY school at the moment…where thankfully he gets several scholarships but it’s not really his vibe. I wonder if W&M will release soon. He also applied to VT but doesn’t want to go there…so don’t ask me why he applied? haha. Good luck to all!

Congrats!!! That’s great! Nope! Our son did not!! We are very surprised…3.9+. clubs, deans list and a bunch of academic scholarships, leadership stuff etc. In state. But maybe it was the school he applied to which is for Psychology? He thinks he had all the requirements done as well. But Who knows. Oh well. I was always a bit concerned it was the right fit for him…anyway…Take care!

sorry to hear that. It seems like he definitely had the credentials. A big portion of UVA transfers come from the VCCS system (myself included), so it is really difficult for those trying to transfer from four-year schools. W&M is coming up real soon; I believe those decisions are officially coming on Friday. I have a feeling he’ll get some better news. I wish you both the best of luck!

That’s very kind! Thanks! His brother goes there too…to W&M. He was WL last time. His current school has recently awarded him another big scholarship for his grades so it’s almost cheaper to stay out of state but I bet he transfers if he gets into W&M. I called and I think it’ll be next week from what they said.
