I haven’t been following this thread but wanted to post my daughter’s stats in hopes they will provide insight to someone else.
She was accepted today
OOS - Biology Major
Class Rank 3/234
GPA: 3.97 unweighted/4.3 weighted
ACT: 27 composite(27 math/27 reading) and SAT is 1240 (CR 550 & M 700)
6 Varsity Letters/Lots of AP/volunteering/job/state medals in multiple sports (but not continuing in college)
Most likely going to A&M but very excited that she was accepted. We may do one more tour!
@YaYa I think that’s part of what he wants, but also video production for websites. His math on ACT was a little low (28). By the time he graduates HS, he will have completed college Calc I & II thru dual credit, likely with a high B in both. I’m hoping that will work in his favor. He didn’t submit any projects (never even occurred to me), but one of his essays talks about how he’d been creating independent characters and stories thru computer programs. He and his brother have been working on designing an online comic as a hobby.
@basedchem It took me about 10 days or so. Granted I live way out in the boonies here in uncharted and uninhabited Oregon… For you in state, it shouldn’t take more than a week.
A couple kids from my school applied engineering and have all found out at different times (some a month ago and some yesterday). I also applied engineering and haven’t heard back yet what does this mean?
I don’t think it means anything, @yanksrule200 other than what it is. Waves of accecptances have been released for various colleges but certainly not all acceptances have been released for any college. Acceptances will continue to go out.
As I said early, last years thread, starting at about 1:00pm on February 19, a very large wavy went out and many who had been waiting received notice, whether acceptance or PACED, CAP, Waitlisted, UGS, etc or denied. A lot of those were McCombs and Cockrell and for Cockrell, a great many were mechanical, Aerospace, and ChemE. but included all disciplines. It appears that all of the acceptances did not go out all at once, but throughout the day, throughout the night, and onto the next day, February 20.
Some received and email to check their status and others did not receive and email before their My Status changed to “congratulations, blah blah blah”, and still others received the email about 1/2 to several hours after the decisions posted to their My Status. Emails for all colleges seemed to not go out all at once. For Cockrell alone, some people received a decision at 1:00 while others My status did not change and they received notice the following day.
So, this means absolutely nothing right now, other than don’t panic right now because you have not heard (though we all have anxiety about not knowing). Decisions are not done yet.
@Thelma2 Thanks so much for your response. I think the major choices also may have something to do with it. The kids I know got in yesterday are doing civil and as you said a lot of mechanical and chemical are still waiting. Let’s hope we hear back as soon as possible, but feb 19 would also be ideal.
could you post a link to the Class of 2020 facebook group you refer to? I’ve tried to find it and all I can find is a closed group for people already admitted to the class. Thanks!
The facebook page is a closed group, open to UT applicants for the class of 2020. The front page tells you to put something about the class of 2020 in your profile. When my son asked to join, he was approved fairly quickly.
A lot of students are also use the FB page to connect with others about roommate searches so it has other benefits in joining.
Just wanted to shed some hope on other applications with similar stats as mine… extremely mediocre. I just got accepted into McCombs on Thursday night, the 21st of Jan.
I applied on August 8th, ACT score 29, at time of application I was 28/286 (right outside of the 10%), I’m in-state, my GPA was 4.1 (weighted). I did have some leadership roles such as co-founding an organization and being a secretary and reporter of 2 other clubs. I was in the NHS and did a good amount of community service. I am honestly so honored to be accepted into the school. It has always been my dream to live in Austin, and I’m still in shock that I get to live out my dream next fall.
