Fall of 2016 Applicants

@IAMomofTwins what was his rank?

@UTcomethru He is ranked 8/121. If my math skills are right, that puts him in top 7%. Son #2 has 3.867 GPA but is 16/121, so around 13%. At last check their class had 6 kids with 4.00. That’s the problem with not weighting the college courses.

UT Admissions twitter responded to a question about decisions being released this week, as in, will there be decisions released everyday from today (Wednesday) through Friday and UT Admissions responded: “A few decisions will go out earlier, but most decisions will be released at once/on one day.” so it seems that while a few people may receive decisions here and there, the majority will be released at one time. That will help the agony a bit, I suppose. Good Luck to all.

I am truly amazed by how many of you have perfect ACT and SAT scores or nearly perfect ones. I really hope you guys applied to Ivy League schools because that’s exactly what they look for.

Until Monday, my daughter wasn’t all that interested in UT. Then we attended a session specifically for women in engineering and then another specific to aerospace and now she’s definitely considering UT. She was an auto admit, received her admission into Cockrell 1/4 and into Aerospace on 1/11. She is a National Merit Finalist (got the letter yesterday), currently ranked 6/561. We’ll see if she ends up choosing UT.

Two friends’ kids just found out that they have been accepted today- area is central Tx.

A friends son found out yesterday he was admitted to Butler School of Music.Band historian, VP, and President, Section leader, first chair 3 years wind symphony. All city, area, and Region 4 years, first chair for 2 years, and all state 3 years. Top 15%, 1800/2400 SAT. Audition was Feb. 5th weekend. in state.

UT just tweeted today is not the day. Bad luck for all of us!

A friend just received notice that her application will not be considered due to transcript not received on time. :frowning: But,she will be going to NYU instead.

@pk2608 Just saw that same tweet! They said “Sorry-today is NOT the day. No decision release today. #hanginthere” Ugh, I just want to know already

Seriousl man UT is way way way too slow.

UT will be done with ALL admissions by this weekend, Feb 20th. The vast majority of ALL Colleges/University will be done by the LAST weekend of March. Who is slow?? See this as the beginning of College 101…the class titled “Hurry Up and Wait”. This you will learn over and over again for as long as you are in college and for everything you do there. This is just the beginning. Smile when you remember this post come Orientation…

The suspense is killing me! And my D didn’t even apply to UT. My friends kids are still waiting. One applied early and one applied really late. Both are great kids but super different in their stats an ambitions.

@TXDad56 sir, the schools which have their decision around end march didn’t have their deadline until Jan. And comparing to India, we have more than 12 lakh applicants in india appearing for a particular exam. Results are out with no mistake within 20 days.

So I’m comparing accordingly.

At least we are finding out this weekend and not having to wait another week until March 1. Hang in there, it’s coming.

Good Luck @pk2608 and everyone else this weekend.

@pk2608 That’s because the variables are far too less, in comparison. The scores are electronically calculated for the tests here, and the ranking is provided accordingly. UT looks at a lot more.

@pk2608 & the official deadline for UT was 12/1 (vs. 1/1)
That looks like 1 month difference between both the application deadline & decision for UT as compared to other institutions notifying by the end of March…comparatively.

I know that it is difficult to wait.

Good Luck everyone.

My bad i’m sorry… But UT takes a lot of time. That’s an opinion. And well ill be happy with it.

I have been following this thread for a few weeks - never commenting, just reading and hoping like everyone else. But today I wanted to commend everyone who’s been writing on this thread. You have all been so encouraging and respectful. It’s been really nice and refreshing to read. Good luck to everyone!!
