Has anyone heard about honors this weekend?
No
@crazierussia dude I totally get you. Like I feel really honored and lucky and happy to have gotten in but at the same time it’s so sad because I am seeing all these amazing people that got turned down and its like what? It’s kinda crazy.
Cap’d. Kinda surprised cuz I’m international.
I thought they only offer CAP to Texas residents so I only expected either acceptance or denial
International from China
SAT 1870 (490R+740M+640W)
IELTS 7.0 (6.5R+7.0L+7.0W+7.0S)
@ crazierrussia go to your UT EID page and log in. One of the tabs should say what’s next. March 10 is when you can sign up for student orientation sessions in the summer. Those are where you register for classes, take the math assessment for Cockrell and other pre-orientation stuff. If you are planning on living on campus and have not already do your housing application.
Thanks to the Tex Admissions blog, he said that 47,000 people applied for 18000 spots (and I think that somewhere around 7000 enroll). 75% of the admitted students were automatically admitted, with the remaining 25% split for out of state and 12.5% for in-state who stood out. There’s a 1 in 8 chance of being an in-state admit who wasn’t in the top 7%. That’s crazy!
It’s a big state. A very BIG state. Wow, amazing stat.
@universeofbooks Not sure about the 1 in 8. True, it is 1 in 8 chance of being admitted if you were not in the top 7% (whether it be in state or out of state) but we would have to know how many out of state applicants there were. Does it say?
I saw the video too- thought that he said 45,000 applications “yielding” 15,000 admits. But on another site it said that there will be 19,000 admissions.
I was rejected OOS Georgia

Major: International Affairs and Global Studies
CNA: 100.5 (we don’t do GPA)
Lots of ECs: NHS, Beta Club, French NHS, Habitat for Humanity (Secretary and President) Marching Band (Indoor Ops 2 years, Band Captain)
Awards: University of Georgia Certificate of Merit (for top 5%), National Merit Letter of Commendation, Nominated and attended Girls State (summer government program)
I now have an internship at a high-level software company where I am learning marketing.
I thought my essays were pretty good as well as my recommendations. The only thing I did not upload was a resume.
I don’t know if I have a case for an appeal. The transcript they got might be outdated. My school reported a grade wrong. But that’s it. Also maybe the new internship. Please let me I know what you all think!
@goingnutsmom - I think when he made the video (while in Africa) the information/data was very new.
When I first read the blog it was the original numbers (45,000/15,000) but, later it was edited with the increase. I have a feeling it may be updated with final numbers at some point…
The number can be different, it depends if the cutoff is top 7% or 8%.
I got my Polymathic decision back today. Not admitted into the honors college.
Yeah, if someone could post when the stats come out, that would be awesome. My friend’s kids got waitllisted or CAPed and they are not happy campers.
Got into CNS as an Astronomy major!
Rejected from Dean’s Scholar though (probably because I’m international). It was ‘under review’ yesterday but now I saw they changed it to ‘We are not able to offer you admission to Dean’s Scholar.’
@autumne My daughter got notice last night she did not get into Dean’s Scholars either. She’s fine with that as she is more interested in another program and is hoping for good news there.
Also got denied from deans scholars yesterday.
Got rejected from the Health Science Honors today.
@IAMomofTwins please ask your son to join the groupme for ut physics majors!! https://web.■■■■■■■■■■■/join_group/19992887/G74Tfc
If I am going to do CAP, am I a UT20 student still? How does being CAP relate to our student status pertaining to UT? No Facebook group for me or what? Lol.
