Good luck to all those in class of '20. Engineering is kicking my butt here. Super hard, but def worth it!
@parentof3kids and don’t worry, that won’t be an issue since he will not have many engineering classes as a freshman. i am at san jac and i only had one class at the RLM which was calculus.
Also another tip is to those registration for orientation. I remember when I signed up the system crashed. Try to sign up for the earliest possible orientation. I did the first one last year on June 8th. Please PM if any of you have questions about which professors to choose! I will gladly answer your questions!
@vs1997 My son is going to start as an Economics major, but is going to try and transfer into McCombs. Any suggestions as to some relatively easy core courses that he can take in order to make sure he can keep his GPA high? Thanks!
@riley16 I would recommend taking GOV310L or GOV312L (these are required to graduate unless your son has claimed credit for 310L) these classes are online and it is very easy, only online quizzes and no tests. The instructor is Sean Theriault. Another easy course is TD301 (Theatre and Dance, which is a VAPA and is the easiest if you take it with Figueroa) Avoid physics and macroecon at all costs. They are considered difficult weed out courses. M408D (Multivariable Calculus with Sequences and Series) is probably the hardest math class. PM me if you would like to know more! Good luck.
Also to all, the course catalog for Fall 2016 has released and I can recommend good professors. Just let me know if you need the link or you would like me to recommend.
@vs1997 I’m not entirely sure which classes I’ll be taking since this is completely new to me. I’m a bio major though. Also I was wondering if an IB Spanish SL credit could get me out of the language requirement
@mandyyy Do you know about this page above? It shows which tests get you credit- if you are looking for college credit. I don’t know much about IB so I cannot tell which Spanish you took.
Or are you asking if it meets the two years in high school requirement?
@gettingschooled Yes that’s what I’m asking. I took four years of IB Spanish and took a written and oral exam and passed.
Yes it should meet the high school requirement. Depending upon your score on the exam, you may be able to get college credit as well, but not sure you need it for Biology.
@vs1997 I will be starting in UT business school in Fall 2016. Can you recommend the prof classes I should take.
@bk1366 just pm me
CH301 (General Chemistry I), Difficulty: 6/10 - Laude, McCord

CH320M (Organic Chemistry), Difficulty: 7/10 - Shabbir
PHY303K (Engineering Physics: Mechanics), Difficulty: 6/10 - Turner
PHY303L (Engineering Physics: Electricity & Magnetism), Difficulty: 10/10 - PLEASE AVOID THIS CLASS!!!
M408C (Differential and Integral Calculus), Difficulty: 4/10 - Gonzalez
M408D (Multivariable Calculus with Sequences and Series), Difficulty: 9/10 - Gonzalez
M427J (Differential Equations and Applications), Difficulty: 9/10 - Wollesensky
UGS (Undergraduate Studies) - Any class but Popular Astronomy, it’s VERY difficult. Unless you are interested, don’t take this Popular Astronomy as the UGS.
GE (General Engineering) - Take GE for Chem or Math if he is taking M408D. These classes are automatic A’s for attending and GPA Booster’s. They help you in class by giving you practice problems.
Above I have posted the classes that Freshman first semester Engineering students can take with the best professors that teach them and the difficulty out of 10
Hey guys, I’m going to be a chem major at CNS, and I want something to minor in. Does anyone know what subject areas I can minor in? I started looking it up and it said with my major I couldn’t major in anything in CNS, geosciences or engineering, is that true? If so could someone explain why since I’m very confused
@epicninja49 I would recommend something in business or economics. Also- look into the business foundations certificate. Understanding how business works will help you in any field you go into.
Also a question about housing: I submitted my housing app April 19th. Am I going to be able to get a contract? And if so, does anyone have any idea when I can expect it?
Hey guys, I was wondering what the chances are of getting a housing contract if I did my housing app back in March and committed just a few days ago??
Also, how do people find their roommates? I’ve heard of a lot of people at my school who used Facebook
