FAMILY EMERGENCY-> Travel Abroad?

Hi, I’m an admitted ED student who’s recently had a bit of a family emergency. Would having to travel abroad, for 3-4 weeks, be a matter of concern (i.e., rescission) for Columbia? I am assuming that my absence would be excused; my grades wouldn’t suffer much. I have missed school due to international travel on many occasions before.

Also, should I contact them and notify them of this? Would they even find out?

That doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Just make sure the emergency is really an emergency.

huh? i’m confused…if your grades won’t suffer why would columbia care?

^ yes exactly. I think you’re worrying too much.

Don’t freak out. If you’re really worried, give Columbia a heads up. They’ll understand, and most likely won’t care. And they also won’t force the specifics of your emergency out of you.

Don’t worry, Columbia isn’t going to think that you’re taking a break from school after ED admission :)

Jeez what the heck are you worried about? Perfect attendance isn’t a criteria for Columbia. Columbia doesn’t give two sh-ts about this sort of thing as long as your grades are okay and you don’t have a major disciplinary issue.

I don’t understand why you think traveling abroad for 3-4 is going to get your admissions rescinded. Why would they even have to know?
