Famous People I Love/Famous People I Hate

OK, I’m going to list ten famous people I love and ten famous people I hate (well, I don’t really hate any human being, but for the sake of the thread…), and all of you are going to do the same. Note: I’m using the term “famous” in a very broad sense, and only citing people who are alive.

Let’s see YOUR lists!

J/w, why the hatred for Moore if he merely reveals the truth?

Not that I’m a fan of Michael Moore, but criticizing one’s government is treason? Interesting.

what a conservative you are

jean christien was way better than stephen. i mean he’s so funny!
did you see him with the ‘bribed’ golf balls at the trial?! haha

I think if you put Coulter on your Loved List for her fearless criticism, you should put Moore on there. But you’d never do that. Don’t lie–you like Coulter because you agree with her. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s disingenous to say you like Coulter for something that Michael Moore does too.

But, anyway, what was the point in making this thread?

Lol. Evidently a citizen’s proper place is quietly in the background. But I would expect hatred for someone that defamed someone Fides loves.

Whatever…who cares? He’s in Toronto thankfully

I’m not gonna bother with reasons, but anyway.

Ten People I love:
ELIE WIESEL. He’s my hero.
Desmond Tutu
Howard Zinn
Ralph Nader
Tom Friedman
Nelson Mandela
Shimon Peres
Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens
Jean-Luc Godard
Russ Feingold

PEOPLE I HATE
NOAM CHOMSKY. He makes my blood boil.
Binyamin Netanyahu + many other Likudniks (well, maybe not hate)
Sean Hannity
Angelina Jolie
Andrew Lloyd Webber
Steven Spielberg
Bono
Dan Brown
Conor Oberst and anyone like him
Margaret Thatcher

my list is very paradoxical…

Hemingway, I’m curious about your opinion of Norman Finkelstein, who said, in reference to Elie Wiesel’s profitable lecture circuit tours, “There’s no business like Shoah business.” (Shoah being the Holocaust)

I won’t bother making a list, but Terry Pratchett, Richard Dawkins, and Stephen Colbert are some of my personal favorites (that’s “love”).

Ha, I was contemplating putting him on my “hate” list, but didn’t (what with Wiesel and Chomsky). I don’t agree with anything he has to say on “the Holocaust Industry”, but I have to give him a little credit because his parents are Shoah survivors. I am such a proponent of Holocaust awareness and once even contemplated working for USHMM, so in response to Finkelstein I say, “any business is good business”. My mother had a professor at Depaul, where Finkelstein teaches, who I think shivered whenever Finkelstein’s name was mentioned. :p

lol that’s cool.
somehow i doubt fides would respond to a similar question in such a levelheaded manner though

I stopped reading when I saw George Bush and Ann ****ter.

my love list
Keira knightley
elisha cuthbert
jessica alba
Keira knightley
Jessica alba
Elisha cuthbert

the end

Because some people hate the truth.

LOVE:
Oprah
David Letterman

^Maybe Michael Moore manipulates things into something he wants the truth to be. Just throwing that out there.

Ten People I Love: (Not all of them alive)
Jesus Christ- No reason in particular.
Anne Frank- For her courage and strength
Mikhail Baryshnikov- If you don’t know him, google him.
JK Rowling- Guess why.
Bill Keller- So what if the Times isn’t completely objective? I like the news.
Julia Roberts- Pretty Woman made me realize, anyone can find love, even hookers
Simon Cowell- The man everyone loves to hate

That’s all I got now.

“Maybe Michael Moore manipulates things into something he wants the truth to be. Just throwing that out there.”

Pretty much. It isn’t so much what Michael Moore says; it’s what he tactfully chooses to leave out.

Love: (in no particular order & if dead people count)

 1. Oprah
 2. Elie Weisel
 3. Helen Keller
 4. Natalie Portman
 5. Julianne Moore
 6. Rudy Giuliani
 7. Angelina Jolie
 8. Janice Erlbaum (author of Girlbomb)
 9. JK Rowling
 10. Anne Frank

Hate List:

 1. Pope Benedict XVI (he was a nazi youth. you don’t lose that kind of indoctrination so quickly)
 2. George Bush
 3. Lindsay Lohan
 4. Nader
 5. Anyone against stem cell research
 6. Anyone against abortion rights
 7. Anyone against gay marriage
 8. Anti-semites and racists

"Hate List:

 1. Pope Benedict XVI (he was a nazi youth. you don’t lose that kind of indoctrination so quickly)"

Wow. Just wow.

Have you read any of Benedict’s many books? Do so, and enlighten yourself on what he believes.

In any case, here’s a little biographical information from Wikipedia.com:

“Following his fourteenth birthday in 1941, Ratzinger was enrolled in the Hitler Youth (a paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party) - membership being legally required after December 1936 - but was an unenthusiastic member and refused to attend meetings. His father was a bitter enemy of Nazism, believing it conflicted with the Catholic faith. In 1941, one of Ratzinger’s cousins, a child with Down syndrome, was killed by the Nazi regime in its campaign of eugenics. In 1943 while still in seminary, he was drafted at age 16 into the German anti-aircraft corps. Ratzinger then trained in the German infantry, but a subsequent illness precluded him from the usual rigours of military duty. As the Allied front drew closer to his post in 1945, he returned to his family’s home in Traunstein after his unit had ceased to exist, just as American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. As a German soldier, he was put in a POW camp but was released a few months later at the end of the War in summer 1945. He reentered the seminary, along with his brother Georg, in November of that year.”

Benedict, before becoming pope, has spoken and written numerous times on the evils of Nazism and all that it stood for. So, before you say another word about this man, I suggest you gain some knowledge about what the hell it is that you are talking about.
