<p>Interesting article, but it really doesn’t shed much new light on methods employed by top schools in accepting talented kids. I saw these “super star” techniques applied by Harvard way back in the 60’s. Harvard didn’t then (and doesn’t now) blindly accept kids with the perfect SAT’s and the highest marks in school. (Thank goodness, because Harvard accepted me and I sure didn’t have such SAT’s or grades.) In fact, it turns down more of these kids than it accepts. It has, for decades, looked for “super stars” in various areas of study or performance. (How and why Harvard accepted me so many years ago, I still don’t understand. Miracles happen, I guess.)</p>
