Fashion fads you love, miss, or wish would go away

I am wearing a long-sleeve sweater today and am continually pushing the sleeves up. That made me think of how much I love 3/4-sleeves. That’s nearly all I buy and wear them year round (it’s usually warm here in Texas).

A few years ago, brooches were all the thing around here. I am not a jewelry person but I really liked brooches. That only seemed to last one year. I miss them.

There are a few trends that have hung around way too long. Animal prints is one. I never bought one single item, but it just won’t go away. Another is the low-waisted pant; they just don’t work for my body type.

I dislike cowl neck sweaters from the 1980s.

Ponchos. I hated them the first time they were popular and every time since. They seem to appear every 7 years or so.

High heels. Even after we know how bad they are for us, even after we know how painful they are for us, they still are the expectation with many clothes. I hate them.

Speedo’s and short shorts and leisure suits for men.

I hate ponchos and cropped trousers; they flatter very few women’s figures.

High-heeled booties with peep / open-toes. I think they are so stupid.

Boyfriend jeans…especially the ones with fake tears. and yes agree with Pizza on the booties thing…and even more dislike rolled up, fake torn boyfriend jeans with booties.

Any outfit depicted on selfies and especially the follow-up comments that are gag wrothy.

I like dresses. I hate skirts.

I REALLY hate it when girls wear cowboy boots with short baby doll dresses. Those girls are going to cringe in a few years when they look at their photos.

Tattoos. Particularly the big, loud, multi-colored ones on arms, necks, or other places that always show. I just cringe when I see them. I cannot believe that people would mutilate themselves in that way.

I caught Say Yes to the Dress the other night. Here are all these women trying on lovely strapless dresses but the whole look is absolutely ruined by the ugly tattoos on their arms. Hideous.

TatinG, I couldn’t agree more. Tats are disgusting looking. I told my kids the big growth area for jobs of the future is tattoo removal.

Baseball caps unless one is actually playing baseball.

Yes, high heels–gives podiatrist and chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons, but how many centuries will women keep wearing these implements of torture?

I always wanted to be someone who could casually wear a baseball cap with a ponytail through it - alas, no ponytail!!!

Many will not think of this as a fad, but I would say scarves. I swear some people wear them as frequent as underwear!

I also agree on any animal print.

I love scarves but hate animal prints. I have not bought any but a friend gave me some bedroom slippers in lavender animal print–hideous but cozy.

I know leggings haven’t finished making their run, but I do wish people wouldn’t wear them as pants with short tops.

Crop tops. Those horrible stripper high heels with the platform under the ball of the foot so you can get up another inch or so.

what I miss? Menswear for ladies.

Hate prairie anything. Maeve (which my kid just bought maeve pants from American Eagle).

I hate ankle pants. Back in the day, we called them flood pants. Now they’ve taken over the stores making it hard to find regular length pants.

Not a fan of sheer. Don’t like it when people wear brightly colored bras and I can see them.

I love low-waisted pants. If high-waisted, pleated pants come back, I’m in trouble. They make me look about 10 pounds fatter than I am. And I have the photos to prove that.
