Well, the good thing is that you can do you and I can do me and it’s all good A lot of these things that I “care” about - I care about for me, but don’t really GAS (in the nicest sense of the word) what other people do - as it’s a free country!
Dislike hair extensions. Just-- why?
I get cold easily so like scarves and such. But I don’t really like most of the one piece circular things you stick around your neck. Looks like a yoke.
Men who are mostly bald but manage to scrape together a ponytail. No please!
“Long, straight hair is another fashion I’ll be glad to see over. Yawn. Long hair is pretty, but long, straight hair on every young woman, even those who have gorgeous curls or waves, is silly.”
And in the 70’s we all had feathered hair and in the 80s we all had flipped bangs and “big hair.” And our mothers in the 50s all had a certain kind of hairstyle. I don’t think there is anything new about the idea that young women tend to glom onto a current popular style.
I agree with the too–way too- tight maternity clothes. They are meant to be comfortable, not Spanx. Ditto maternity pictures in bra and panties that are posted on facebook. Um, I’ll just wait for the cute newborn pictures.
I would love to see the end of the Michael Kors logo. I really feel he has overexposed himself to the point of ruining his brand. And I like a lot of what he puts out but it is jut EVERYWHERE - MK wallets, ballet flats, handbags… it never ends. Tired of MK and think he has gone the way of RL and taken any “designer” appeal out of his line.
this is probably sacrilegious among this crowd, but I HATE the lagenlook style–I have yet to see someone that truly looks good on all that oversizedness and all I see is Bea Arthur-I think its an extremely overwhelming and aging look.
I also HATE the bizarre trend of wearing odd colored shoes that don’t “match” but “go”…i just cant get on board with the need to pair teal shoes with your yellow and orange dress. imo, they neither “match” OR “go”–it just looks like you are colorblind or got dressed in the dark.
and as the laundry doer in the household I quietly vote for anything involving layering to disappear.
but I think that ones a personal problem
I never heard of the lagenlook style and googled it – man, I agree, that is terribly aging!
I agree on Michael Kors - and then someone gave me a zip-around MK wallet for Christmas and I really needed a new wallet so that’s what I’m using. But I agree, there’s nothing to the styling other than it has his name on it. I think MK is like Coach; they became so ubiquitous it’s hurt the brand. I like Kate Spade but I’m afraid she may be going down that path as well.
I must live under a rock. Never heard of lagenlook or wearing 2 different shoes! That said, I had 2 pr of the same flip flops and once packed 2 left shoes. Does that count?
Lagenlook . . . never heard of it. I learn something new on CC every day!
After googling, I like certain elements of Lagenlook, except that I can’t do anything too “bohemian”. Love it on others but not on me. I just feel like an idiot, and look dumpy.
That being said, I do love really soft pieces paired with structured.
Dislike: man buns, long beards, lobe gauges, tattoos, wearing high heels (though they usually look great on people–I don’t wear them often at all), too short of shirt with leggings (even though I like leggings), excess piercing (although my D1 just got a belly button piercing, and I must admit it looks kind of cute), too tight and/or revealing clothing, eyebrows that are too made up (what some people call “on point”), obnoxiously obvious branding on clothes or accessories
Like: boots in fall and winter, scarves, jewelry (costume and real), sun dresses in summer (from maxi to right above the knee) with cute sandals (my favorite look, which, to me, is synonymous with lovely summer warmth and freedom), jeans with some dazzling or style on the pockets, nice ponchos, anything to stay warm stylishly or celebrate summer (which is obviously my favorite season)
@jym626 , I think they were talking about people wearing shoes that don’t match the colors of the outfit, not 2 different shoes at the same time! Am I right, @kac425 ?
I can’t stand brown suits on men.
I don’t like the “wrapped around the front” shawl look 2 of my friends have worn in the last couple weeks. I hope that is a short lived Fashion statement as I won’t be participating.
I hate the idea of the “black/navy suit” as the uniform of professional interviews often. Wow, way to show no personality at all! Haven’t owned a suit in YEARS!
Neon hair
Bare Midriffs
Leggings as pants
Long sweaters as dresses
Over the knee boots
Heels too high for walking (the toddlers)
Man buns (I have nothing against long hair or ponytails, I had hair down my back a number of years ago) and the hipster beards and the rest of the ‘hipster’ chic (the wearing of clothing we used to call granpa clothing especially), it is phony bohemian and it looks stupid to me. I like tatoos, but I hate on men and women the tribal bands, they look like crap (the guy who did my tattoo in Maine had a sign that said “Ask me for a tribal band, I’ll throw you down the stairs”). With other things, it does come down to whether someone can carry it off, a young woman wearing leggings with a short top may not look bad, a woman my own age wearing them isn’t going to look good. Likewise, a pony tail on a guy who has his hair can look good, on a balding guy it looks ridiculous (there is an analyst on CNBC like that, drives me nuts). While I appreciate the fight against aging, I totally support that, I see a lot of women and some men who have done plastic surgery that looks like they had surgery, and it looks terrible to me.
I can’t wait to go to a wedding and see a bride who is NOT wearing a strapless wedding gown!
^^Me too! A fashion trend that needs to go. That look is not attractive on many girls.
What about people who have naturally straight hair and want to grow it long?
