Fashionista question

I have a denim dress I am having shortened to just above the knee. It’s is very light weight and casual. I want to wear it in the fall with my animal print pointed heels. The animal print is more dark mustard with dark brown. I’ve never worn them with a skirt before…usually jeans. As it will be cold and at my age my knees aren’t my favorite part of my body anyway, I plan on wearing tights…very thin dark brown tights. Also plan on buying a nice thick stylish brown belt.

Can I wear tights with animal print shoes? It really is my only option I think.

Sounds like a well-planned outfit!

B-)

I approve.

And Joan Rivers, if she were alive, would approve also!

Yes…go for it. And be sure everyone hears you roar!

We have pigs, chickens, dogs, and alien life forms in our collection of emoji… How come there are no cats?! Hmmm…

Great…sounds like I can get away with it! I just love my leopard heels. Another find last year that just spruces up ALL my outfits are Kate and Kelly Dorotha Red platform pumps. For all of you that have a hard time finding platform pumps that aren’t 4" or more high, these are great. I bought them in Red, Beige (think Kate Middleton!) and Black. Bought two pair of black…one for work and one to keep nice for the weekends. Even my DH told me how nice they looked…and he doesn’t usually remark on pumps. DSW if you’re interested, they come in Wide width, too, which I need. $40.

Very nice!

It will look fine as long as the shade of brown in the tights is exactly the same as the brown in the shoe. To be nitpicky, the color of tights can look different once they are on the leg (your skin tone combined with the sheerness), so I would put them on to make certain. Also, you described the dress as “very lightweight,” which makes me wonder if the tights and animal print will look too wintery. Is it a darker denim?

It is a medium colored denim, with long sleeves. It’s meant for fall. The weight of it is soft, not stiff like blue jeans. I usually have worn it in the past with brown boots, when it was long. I will make certain that those browns match!

@BunsenBurner‌ , they are comfy, too. It really makes your foot look great!

So…if you don’t like your knees why would you shorten a skirt to above the knee?

Ellebud, I hate my wrinkly knees, too, but I like my dresses to be just mid-knee to a couple of inches above. Tights and hose remedy the knee issue well, making the entire outfit look more stylish (versus bare leg/just below the knee skirt length).

Does your dress look like this?

Off topic, but in the news:

What do all y’all think of the supposed new sandals and socks trend? Depending on whether it somehow looks good or, just as likely, ghastly, people might be too busy furrowing their brows as they look down at feet and ankles to notice knees.

IMO, socks and sandals are never a good pairing idea, not even as a distraction from my wrinkly knees! ;)

Yes, that is the basic style, just not so dark…and of course right above the knee. Well, about the wrinkly knees…with fall dresses I would not go bare legged. In summer I do, figure I will have to live with it. But it’s summer so who would wear tights?

Socks and sandals? No.

Just throw in the lederhosen and its an outfit.

Sorry, I’m being snarky. I think that this is from all the heat here. Over a hundred and I might become very opinionated and/or snarky.

No worries, ellebud! We are expecting a mini heat wave of our own this weekend - 80 degrees or so. Nope, not wearing socks with sandals or heels, not even if they are by Coco herself. :)

Perfect timing - I just bought my D a new pair of Birkenstocks that she wears with socks (and jeans or cords) during the fall and winter. In her defense, she wears dark-colored socks that more or less blend in with the Birks, so it’s not immediately obvious that she’s wearing socks with sandals. (She wears her sandals without socks in the summer.)

Socks and heels were a short lived trend in the very early 90’s. if some of you remember, they were typically ankle socks, many with polka dots and lace. It was cute on very, very few girls. Usually tiny and young. Didn’t Princess Diana even try this one? I think she did.
