Fast food restaurant ranking

Only thing that beats White Castle is a restaurant called “Telway” which sells sliders, fries, etc., but their staple is the grilled onions they put on their burgers.

Not sure if we’re allowed to attach pictures, but here goes nothing:

ducks yet again I’m not a fan of pattied red meat (Haven’t had a hamburger since I was probably eight…), so I’ve never had Krystal’s, White Castle, or In-N-Out Burger.

Wawa and Sheetz are similar but Wawa is so much better. Lots of choices for the whole family. Great place to stop on a road trip. I had a great Quinoa salad there recently while the men had MTO (made to order) hoagies. My kids always pay them a visit when they are in town.

What I wouldn’t give for a cup of Wawa coffee right now. The best anywhere.

The other great thing about our Wawa is that they employ the local high school autistic kids through a job training program to make the coffee in the morning.

Well here you go @frazzled1 – it’s on me!

We don’t have Wawa but Stewart’s in the go to convenience store here. They started as an ice cream shop inthe early 1900’s and their ice cream is the best. Great coffee, too.

@Niquii77, lol, I’d rather have a double cheeseburger than a steak.

Thank you, @HarvestMoon1! That sandwich looks good, too.

If Au Bon Pain counts, that’s my #1. Panera’s OK for a quick, reasonably healthy lunch and a few minutes off the road on a long road trip; same with Noodles & Co., but I don’t think of any of those as “fast food.” My daughters like Chipotle but I’ve never much cared for it; spoiled, I guess, by the much better burritos I could get at any number of small Mom & Pop burrito shops when we lived in the Bay Area. I liked Which 'wich when it first opened in our neighborhood, higher quality ingredients than most, but I stopped going there because I had to wait 45 minutes for my sandwich the last time I went. Someone had phoned in a take-out order for about 50 or 60 sandwiches and they were making all of them before getting to the orders of customers who came in, ordered, paid, and were waiting right there in the store. Really dumb on their part. I’m not above holding a grudge.

Worst: McDonald’s. Taco Bell (blech!!) KFC. Panda Express.

But I really don’t frequent fast food places very much. It’s just as quick for me to get a high quality deli sandwich at the delightful New York-style Jewish deli around the corner, or to pick up a banh mi at my favorite local Vietnamese restaurant, or a couple of tacos from a local taqueria. These are all locally owned Mom & Pop businesses, the food is tastier and healthier, and the cost is about the same as filling my pie-hole with fat and carbs from some bloodsucking mega-corporation.

I checked the WAWA locator and the closest one is at least 25+ miles away in MD, not VA.
We have 7-11 here.

The closest Wawa in VA to DC are the ones in Prince William County, on US 29 in Gainesville, and off I-95 in Dale City.

The only fast food joint I frequent is The Habit. It’s hamburgers crush the competition. Double Swiss burger with fried green beans on the side please!

Other than that, we have a super abundance of small privately run taco stands, teriyaki stands, banh mi take outs, korean BBQ joints, hot dog stands and even a new Po-Boy joint to frequent. I’ve tried many of the above mentioned faves, but none of them compare to the locals. All of them are not only inexpensive but they are highly creative as well. Fresh and local rules in LA.

To all my buddies here in LA-------check out The Little Jewel in Chinatown. Soft shell crab Po Boy!! You gotta wait for about 5-10 minutes, and maybe that disqualifies as fast food. But it’s well worth the trip.

@raclut

It is strictly forbidden to mention WAWA in the same sentence as 7-11. Although they may appear to be similar, they are nothing alike. I never set foot in a 7-11, but WAWA has freshly made, customized food, salads, fruit, veggies, and it is clean and well-maintained.

@ surfcity I had no idea. It has been many years since I walked into either of them and that may have been for coffee. Next time I go on a road trip on 95 I will look out for Wawa.

I’ve been to the Wawa in Gainesville as well as some of the area 7-11’s and there is absolutely no comparison. Wawa is a huge cut above 7-11, at least in VA.

I go to the Philadelphia area a lot to visit family, and WAWA is always one of my first stops. When I was growing up there, they didn’t have the fresh foods. That’s a modern addition. 7-11s are sketchy.

7-11s are beyond sketchy in my neck of the woods! Ditto Am/Pm Marts.

@surfcity
:>

I agree Wawa is muuuch better than 7- Eleven, but the 7 - Elevens in my area aren’t overwhelmingly sketchy. There are the nice “super” gas station types with well lit areas and clean pumps + convenience stores and the broken down ones. Ijust go to whichever one looks the newest if I have to.
