Fast food restaurant ranking

I’ve been to a couple of Wendy’s and their food is usually soggy for some reason. :-?

5 guys is gluten free, I don’t recall that. Maybe I try them again.

Too bad I’m reading this at 11:20PM on my final night in town!

It’s more a local chain (Austin/San Antonio), but while I was in Austin, I had to get a Thundercloud Subs (avocado sandwich - YUM). It was as awesome as it was 30 years ago! My go-to when I’m in an area where they are is Schlotzsky’s. We have to go up to Milwaukee, though, from the Chicago burbs if I want it. May find one tomorrow for lunch on my drive from Austin to Houston.

If I am really desperate for food and my only option is fast food drive through, I will get a snack wrap at McDonalds (although I am disappointed that they got rid of the Chipotle snack wrap). Will also get a fruit and yogurt parfait.

If I’m not driving, I will get a southwest salad from McDonalds. If I’m truly desperate for a fast food burger, I will get a junior bacon cheeseburger from Wendy’s. Of course when we’re visiting D in CA, we always do In-N-Out.

Just to add, we also have a brand new Panera Bread in our neck of the woods that has a drive-thru now.

I wouldn’t consider Papa John’s fast food, but in any event, our local one went out of business- probably the least popular pizza place around here. I think fast food popularity must vary a lot by region. Dunkin Donuts is not big here- I don’t think we have one near by. Ditto Chick Fil A - the closest one is 5-6 miles away. I have been in once and would not go back. Doesn’t seem very popular here. In n Out is probably the most popular fast food here- there is always a line. Freebirds World Burrito is always busy as well as Jersey Mikes.

Who remembers when Wendy’s had a salad bar? (and nacho bar maybe??) I remember enjoying that in our early marriage years - the 80’s. These days Wendy’s would also be a last choice. But admittedly, haven’t been there in a few years.

I had not been to Wendy’s in years, either, and I did used to enjoy the salad bar before it got sort of sketchy. Wendy’s was recommended to me a few months ago by two separate (and very picky) friends for their salads, and it was a good recommendation. You might want to give it another shot if the need arises.

I actually don’t eat fast food that often since I prefer local options, but I have traveled enough or been caught short enough to have my favorites!

My favourite fast food places are all regional - Whataburger, Taco Cabana, Taco Bueno, Raising Cane’s - although I hear that Raising Canes is going national. But, since I rarely go back to Texas anymore, I make do with Chick-fil-A when I visit the US. They have opened a couple Chipotles and Five Guys (and a Shake Shack) in London. My H and I have celebrated our anniversary at Five Guys for the last 2 years - we have simple tastes!

Yeah, Shade Shack in London, I will try it next year.

I really don’t get Chick-Fil-A. Their chicken strips and sandwiches are okay, but nothing to rave about. I actually think McD’s grilled chicken sandwiches are better. The only thing that I enjoy at Chick-Fil-A is their breakfast sausage biscuits.

I like to try the McDonald’s local items in foreign countries that are not available here, like the noodle soup and the Mala pork sandwich (McRib with spicy mala sauce) in Hong Kong. Or the poutine in the Canadian McDs.

Their waffle fries are great too!! McDonalds used to put sugar on their fries. Don’t know if they still do or not.

I ate some free Chick- FIL-A chicken sandwiches at work, I don’t know whats the rave about either. I used to like Carl’s Junior, actually my mom liked it a lot but have not eaten there recently, like in more than 5 years.

I don’t know if it counts as fast food, but any Texans on here visited a Buc-ees? It’s the only place we stop on road trips around here if we can help it. Clean bathrooms, pretty good food-including healthy options.

The Wendy’s around here is open till 2am I think, so I occasionally go there if it’s past midnight and I want something to eat. At that time the only options are it and McDonalds which is 24 hours.

Typically order the spicy chicken sandwich, large fries, and large chili with cheese. I like to eat two fries with a bite of chili.

There’s one nearby but I’ve never tried it. I’ll give it a shot.

I hate to sound like one of those people who say I never eat fast food, but I don’t eat at large chain fast food places unless we are on a roadtrip. I don’t consider Chipoltle or Panera fast food. I liked Panera when it first came to Ca but I tried it a few times when they opened in my area and I found it to be really bad. I don’t love Chipolte but I will stop there if I am somewhere unfamiliar and I’m hungry. I think Subway is a weak sandwich but it is also a fairly safe bet on the road.
I like In and Out but I probably only go once or twice a year. Love Hamburger Habit but again I think we only eat there a few times a year. We tried Five Guys last year in Canada on a vacation. It was good but again not healthy and we don’t have one nearby.
If I don’t feel like cooking and just picking up dinner I will usually get burritos from any of a number of local places. Or if we order pizza it is again from a local place.
When I was young I used to love Burger King. Every night after work I would get a whopper Jr with a Dr Pepper. Later switched to the chicken sandwich. I also loved McDonalds fries.
My kids like Subway, Jersey Mikes, In and Out, Taco Bell and Panda Express.

I haven’t seen anyone mention Zoe’s Kitchen yet, but they’re only in the south. Not exactly fast food - more akin to a Panera’s but they have the world’s best chicken salad. Unfortunately, there aren’t any locations where I live but when I’m traveling and I see one, I always go in for the chicken salad!

I asked for three baconator orders of french fries at Wendy’s last week. After pulling away I saw that they gave me too much change and then my grandson told me we were given one order of chili instead of fries. So I had to go inside and explain what happened three or four times. After a five-minute wait, they handed me three baconator cheeseburgers!

So I rolled my eyes and took them and went back to the car. I then went through the drive thru again and ordered my three baconator fries with the extra money they had given me.

Drive thru speakers are the pits. We can’t understand them and they can’t understand us. One or two hundred dollars would solve the problem and improve service.

Patsmom- there is a Zoe’s near my work and it’s great. Come for lunch!

Agreed about the intercom and how crappy it is.

I remember when my mom refused to take us to Wendy’s because of the finger-in-chili fiasco.

Just tried out Jason’s Deli. I was quite impressed. Thanks for the recommendation.

Wasn’t too hungry, got a half-sandwich (which is still bigger than a full sandwich from Panera) and cup of soup with chips and there’s free ice cream. $7.69 after tax. Food was good, liked the variety in what I was able to get, enjoyed each part of it.

And it’s only a few miles from where I live.
