Fast food restaurant ranking

There is a fast food restaurant near D1’s house in Durham called “Biscuitville.” I wondered, “could there really be a fast food joint centered around biscuits?!” Apparently so!

Okra is not a yum around here. My mother-in-law grew up on an okra farm, and so okra is forbidden on DH’s side of the family (and no one would have heard of it on my side). Personally, I generally like fried stuff, but if I have to have onion rings to keep the peace, that’s fine.

It’s not yum but my husband eats them for mopping up bad cholesterol but we don’t go out purposely for okra. Same with other vegetables that he doesn’t like, but will eat them.

Never had okra growing up, but I now love it. We stir fry it at home with garlic and chili peppers. Yum!

I don’t remember eating a lot of okra growing up. But I love them in seafood gumbo. And that’s really yum if you get them from Austin, Texas.

I am eating low carb, but fried okra is sooooooooooo good! I don’t understand how anyone couldn’t love it.

And I can’t have it…

But I am enjoying a smaller body as a result of giving up foods like fried okra. But come on, it’s got the perfect combo of crunchy outside and tender insides. Nice salty crust, tender inside. OMG…

They don’t sell it here like that. Only at Sprouts sell baked okra with crunchy taste. If I cook okra at home, it turns mushy and that’s why my husband doesn’t like it.

“I think In-n-out and Shake Shack need to be excluded.”

They weren’t on the list in the article.

Most of the chains people are talking about on this thread aren’t in my area or even NYS at all. There is also only one Chick-fil-a in all of NYS and it’s on the campus of NYU - not that I would go to one even it they were here on principle.

I’m sure Chick-fil-a will put a special footnote in their Form 10K and decrease the earnings forecast due to your refusal to eat there, emilybee!

^ I don’t have to actually refuse to eat there because there are none anywhere near where I live and I don’t eat fast food at all except for Shake Shack - and that was only because my nephew-in-law worked for Danny Meyer.

Those of us who choose not to patronize some businesses for ethical reasons are fully aware that the loss of our personal business is not going to bring them to their knees. 8-|

@Nrdsb4 I don’t know how to tell you this, but…I’ve never tried fried okra. ducks down From the talk people are spouting, it looks like I need to try it soon, but I’m a little squeamish of them. The looks of them freak me out a bit…like a weird jalapeño…thing…

@MomofWildChild At first I didn’t believe the hype about Wawa, but when I went there for a milkshake my whole life transformed. I could be stranded at Wawa all day and not even be worried.

Spent nearly another $20 at Chick Fil A today. Soon it’s going to get old…just when is that time going to come? :))

That time will come when you live near s Bojangles!

I grew up with WaWa, which started in the Philadelphia area. Back then it didn’t have the great sandwiches and drinks like it does now.

I have never tried Chick Fil A either.

I have been going to Wawa for over 20 years. I do not like the change from small pots of coffee to those big vats.

I like all of their egg sandwiches on bagels and I like the pretzels

Also, Panera is horrible. Has anyone had a sandwich? What do they put, maybe 3 oz of meat on it?

@Vladenschlutte I don’t know if Jason’s Deli counts as fast food. If Panera does, then it would as well. If you want to see a lot of meat on a sandwich get their New York Yankee ~ 3/4 lb of pastrami and corned beef. My H loves it, except he gets it on the onion roll, instead of rye. It is HUGE.

Chick fila is top around here. I personally pick that or 5 guys as top fast food choice since I like the food and both gluten free friendly - a must for me with celiac. Girls like moe’s better than chipotle but there is more there I can eat.

Anyone who likes places where they aren’t so heavy handed on the meat? For the life of me I can’t remember the place, but one day downtown we stopped by a sub place and the no lie the meat was about two inches thick. I ended up taking half the meat off. Just too much for me - not enough room for the veggies and sauces.

Just looked up that sandwich…Oh, my gosh!

You want meat? Nothing beats a Jewish Deli Pastrami on Rye.

No one mentioned Wendy’s. Haven’t eaten there in years but I used to love the spicy chicken sandwich and fries.

Wendy’s has really upgraded the salads and it’s a good road trip or lunch-at-work option.
