Favorite candle

I love candles, and I always light a few once the sun goes down, especially in winter. Having a candle burning makes the house seem homey, but I also want a wonderful, inspiring scent. Any favorites?

We’re having our first nor’easter of the season right now, so I want to stock up for the months ahead - many nights of lighting great candles and hunkering down!

I’m no help. I can’t stand scented candles. I buy only unscented ones. The scented ones give me a huge headache!

I like soy candles. My favorites are 1803. https://1803candles.com I found them at a local gift shop.

I don’t like sweet smelling candles, no vanilla birthday cake. I like the north woods cabin scent and the mistletoe kisses is a Christmas scent which is nice. These are my winter scents.

I like lighter more flower type scents in the summer. Or lavender, that type.

If a candle doesn’t burn cleanly, I’ll never buy it again - it’s a deal breaker. And I agree - prefer non-sweet, non floral scents. I do like a really great pine candle in the winter, otherwise herbal or citrus.

I’m no help, either. I’m switching over to LED candles.

The ones at Costco even come with a remote control

My favorite is Yankee candle sage and citrus!

I love certain scents of candles, depending on my mood. I can not burn them or even have them in the house because most scents set off my allergies. My head blows up and explodes. I even have to use unscented laundry detergent.

I like the scent of Capri Blue Volcano, but it is strong and if I burn it too long it can give me a headache. Pet House Candles are soy based and some of the lighter type scents are nice, like Vanilla Sandalwood and Lavender. They are just regular candles even though they are marketed to ‘freshen pet-loving homes’

Target of all places has a balsam amber soy candle that I really like

Yankee Candle cranberry candles were my favorite. Can’t find them anywhere… reformulated. I like citrusy candles. Not a fan of heavy artificial pine or pumpkin spice scents.

I love citrus and sweet candles most of the year, but cinnamon and clove in the winter. I just bought a bunch at a craft fair today. All of the candles I have are made by local people.

One of my favs is called Irish Turf and it smells a bit like those peat fires, hard to describe.

I like pine and lighter scents too. I can sniff a whole shelf full of candles and reject them all though. It’s hard to find fragrances that don’t smell a bit fake. I’m even pickier with soap - it needs to be made with essential oils.

Yankee Candle. Right now, I am burning orange and clove. I like lemon/lavender, sun and sand, pink sands, cotton, and the balsam/cedar candles.

Henri Bendel Fig candle.

I love Voluspa three-wick candles in the Japonica tin. They are coconut-oil based and burn clean. I use Baltic Amber in the fall, Branch Vermeil for winter, and in the spring/summer, Eden Pear (although I think they may be discontinuing this one). I bought Lavender and French Cade because I could not find the Eden Pear, but I don’t like it as well.

My favorite candle? One that doesn’t smell and doesn’t drip. I also like real beeswax candles they have a very faint natural smell. They look like this: https://www.amazon.com/UnBeelievable-Beeswax-Handmade-Candles-Yellow/dp/B0779HVB85?keywords=beeswax+candle&qid=1540694826&sr=8-31&ref=sr_1_31

Years ago, I bought a bunch of holiday scented candles on sale at a Ralph Lauren store and I have just one left — I love the scent, and most scented candles trigger asthma for me ( except the really high quality expensive ones). LAFCO has really lovely scents… the candles are about $60 but they last a long time and they make the house smell great. They have a scent called Ski House, which smells kind of like a wood fire, and Champagne, which smells like, well, champagne, lol. I love all of them and I usually buy one or two a year… it’s hard to choose!
Another thing we do in our house this time of year is keep a pot on the stove with diluted apple cider and mulling spices… let it simmer for awhile and the whole house smells wonderful.

I like Village Candle, balsam and pine scent all year round. Reminds me of the woods that surround my house in Maine, since I am away from there most of the year.

For folks who like tropical scents, I highly recommend Malie Organics. There is even a pineapple one!
