Favorite candle

Really great

We burn a lot of candles and especially love the pine and woodsy/wintery scents. I’ve also recently become a fan of the pipe tobacco scents that give some nice atmosphere to hubby’s library/wine cellar without the nastiness of real cigar smoke.

For the summer, my favorite is Yankee Candle’s Vanilla Lime.

For these cozy days of winter, I alternate between the pumpkin scented ones, cinnamony ones in December, and some of the wood wick ones-- there’s one I love but whose name escapes me.

I wish I could use scented candles, but like others have said, they make me dreadfully ill–migraine headache and stomache upset.

We have some lanterns on our porch that we use unscented ones in, and they are beautiful.

I like the Woodwick Candle in this scent… https://www.amazon.com/WoodWick-Candle-Frasier-Fir-Large/dp/B002MNFSI2/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1540733873&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=woodwick+candle&dpPl=1&dpID=31dJWxdJgyL&ref=plSrch

My cousins just bought me an electric warmer that uses “easy melt cups” from Yankee Candle (my husband insists that I’m staining the ceiling when I burn a real candle). It has a timer so I don’t have to worry about burning the house down. My favorite scent for this time of year is Macintosh Apples.

I like Volcano Candles, Capri Blue scent. You can get them at Anthropologie.

My favorite scent so far is the Molbaks brand blood orange - we bought a diffuser to try, but they have candles, too. For those who are not familiar with the greater Seattle area, Molbaks is a popular nursery and gift shop north of the city that attracts more than a million visitors a year.

Off to the nursery! It will be a zoo, I am afraid…

Not a candle person, but I have two daughters who are. They both like the same candle–so I buy them one for either a Christmas or birthday gift. This is the one they both like.

The price of that Nordstrom candle would keep me in candles for several years.

I love candles, but:

Candles = watching money burn

I’ve found that as long as you trim the wicks, even the cheapest candles burn evenly/nicely.

I buy candles at Rite Aid or Walmart, wherever I can buy them cheaply. We have a cabin with no electricity so we need lots of candles.

For those of you who are allergic - do regular beeswax candles bother you? To me they smell wonderfully of honey, and it isn’t an added fragrance but it can be strong.

I find that soy candles don’t trigger my allergies. I have bought candles that after I’ve burned once, they trigger allergies. So if I find a brand that works, I keep buying those.

I think that buying something that is an indulgence as a gift is perfect! I would love an expensive candle as a gift. Maybe I’ll put one on my Christmas list

Only candles I burn are tea candles. Sometimes I put them into the top of a larger candle. I like them because they burn for a few hours and go out on their own so I don’t worry about burning down the house. And they’re super cheap.

Bath and Body Works have best candles. Great even burn and great scents.

How about diffusers? I’ll light up a candle a few times during the winter but I’d rather have a light not-so-present scent that diffusers can sometimes offer.

@abasket someone gifted me a Capri blue diffuser and I keep it in one of our bathrooms. It’s very light and I really like it. I have some of the CB aloha orchid candles as well .

I’m partial to the crackling candles with the wood wick. Sounds like wood burning in the fireplace. The fall and winter scents are the best though I did find some peach scented candles for the summer that have a nice aroma.

I like to burn incense as that really permeates the house.

One high school summer, my youngest worked in a candle making factory. He would stink so badly when he came home that we put a robe in the garage and had him strip off his shoes and clothes before he entered the house! As he walked by to go to the shower, we would try to guess the scent of the day. I don’t think any of us have burned a scented candle since!

The only candles I like are Woodwick, because I love the sound they give off. The almond shape ones with the long wick are the best, but you have to commit to burning them for a long time once you light them or you ruin the candle. My favorite scent is linen, but I also will burn Frasier Fir around the holidays.
