I have to laugh at the hand me downs, because thatâs where I get a lot of my nicer clothes. Except I have two Ss who are 6-2 and 6-3! Iâm a perfect menâs medium, and will happily wear a menâs large. My kids tend to like things snug (or not baggy), so most of their stuff fits me.
I tend to be a Walmart gal myself. Their clothes last me a long time.
In my house, we use to call the clothes I wore of the kids, Hand me Ups! From my son I would get his Patagonia jackets, my daughter I would take shirts and sweaters she no longer liked, but looked brand new.
Both kids were tall and I am short, so other than tops, once they passed 5th grade, I could no longer shop in their closets.
Part of the reason I have so many jackets and sweatshirts is due to all the hand-me-ups from son (before full grown) and casual daughter. LOL - the CU buffs sweatshirt was fun yesterday when daughter came over to watch the playoff game and go to lunch with me.
Speaking of the hand me ups- My daughter had a sweatshirt from her old dance studio that stayed home when she moved after college. It is one of my evening sweatshirts that I lounge in. She was over one day and was cold, so went shopping in my closet; at the age of 37, she has inherited her sweatshirt back!
Another vote Talbots. I only wear black pants and they are all from Talbots. Most tops and sweaters are from there as well but I also have tops from Macys and Nordstrom Rack.
I am not working anymore and I play a lot of tennis and mostly wear work out or casual clothes.
Right now my favorites are Vuori and Z Supply. I also like Alo, Lululemon, occasionally Athleta. For jeans I usually go to Nordstrom Rack and I like Paige and a few others.
For MOG last year I did extensive online shopping and ended up Ralph Lauren and Trina Turk (it was a two day deal).
I have too much clothes, so I try not to shop much and get fit again .
I used to shop mostly in Nordstrom Rack for dresses, I love Calvin Klein for office, Adriana Papell for formal, and shoes there. I also come back from European trips with shoes and boots (nothing is better than shoes from Spain and Portugal.) Not any particular brand.
For sport clothes I love seasonal sales at Columbia and Adidas stores. We also get Nike running shoes in kids sizes :).
With jeans I accidentally got to Hollister with my youngest daughter, and walked away with 2 pairs of color block flair jeans. I get compliments every day when I wear them .
When I was shopping MOG (garden semi-formal), WHBM sizes seemed to run big - but maybe that was because the styles were very flowy on bottom half where I carry the weight. They had me in size 4 or 2 (instead of my usual 6 or 8 or sometimes 10). Luckily we do have a store to visit. On my sample of one, I really did adore the patient salesperson.
Just bought a set of 4 tank tops from Costco for $15.99. They run a bit small so I bought a large (instead of a medium) and think they will be a perfect addition, since I donât have many tanks. Theyâre nice to wear as a bottom layer to keep a bit warmer.
Last month I bought a sporty black skort from Costco. Then decided Iâd probably return it, since I do have an old black cotton skort from Kohls. But gosh, the new one doesnât wrinkle and will pack compactly. So I decided to keep it.
âWonât wrinkleâ is one of my key buying criteria these days!
Iâve been wanting some new black pants for work since I changed sizes. Iâve always gotten Express and they are usually $50-$80. Stopped in H&M and picked up two nice pairs that fit well from the clearance rack - $5 each! Better than a consignment store!
Yesterday, I wore one of my Costco knit skorts and a tshirt to a 4 year oldâs birthday party. It was very comfortable and yup the knit was thick and never wrinkled.
