I’m glad to hear that post-Covid, Kinhaven is back to what it had been for my kid. God, did kid love it there. Said at the time that it was the happiest they’d ever been in their life - and they had a really good, happy life at home - because they just had so much fun being together with the other kids who valued music, and all the great camp traditions.

Yes. It was an outstanding experience. He decided not to audition for other programs this summer and is going back.

Walden School in Dublin NH (still taking applications, financial aid available). Six weeks of classes, hiking, performance and composition with world-renowned musicians and composers at the dinner table.

I see that Brevard has extended the deadline for orchestral studies. Anything implied by that? We have apps out to BUTI and Brevard and just wondering what it might mean. Not sure how many horn players are taken at each.

I only know through my son’s experience last year that they were short on violas. My son’s private teacher is friends with one of the teachers there and he asked her if she had any violists that would be able to handle the repertoire. That was in April. I wonder if they are short on applicants.

This seems to be a common occurrence. Of course, the pendulum swings both ways. Some music teachers are seeing this and encouraging a jump to viola. My DD is in a local youth orchestra where the violas outnumber the V2 and Cellos!
