Here is a homemade “Gatorade” recipe similar to what I’ve used in the past.
My girls have turned me on to Spindrift. Island Punch, Strawberry Lemonade and Concord Grape are my favorites.
My favorite restaurant drink is a Virgin Mojito.
I like Arnold Palmers but don’t like diet drinks so I don’t drink it often.
I think they have seasonal flavors. Target often has a lot of options.
Just black coffee in the morning and then icy water with a squeeze of fresh lime. Guess I’m a purist🙄 or maybe just lazy!
My kids love the Poppi sodas. They sell them at our Costco.
I drink coffee, lots of water with fresh squeezed lemon, and the occasional Diet Coke or iced tea (unsweetened).
I drink iced tea — home made by the glass. I add honey. Honey has 21 calories per tsp and sugar has 16 calories per tsp. I don’t need too much.
Water
Hot tea (no sugar or milk that some people put in it)
Vegetable juice
I like a glass full of ice and the half water, half cranberry. Or 2/3 water, 1/3 cranberry, depending on the juice brand. Not too sweet, not as at all syrup-y, and very thirst quenching. When I go to social functions I will specifically ask for it in a wine glass. Looks pretty, tastes great.
We like Ice. Powerade Zero on occasion. Otherwise it’s water. I don’t like drinking my calories.
I don’t like La Croix either. The bubbles seem flabby. Lately I’ve been loving Athletic AF beer. 45 calories but it has a lot of flavor. Also club soda with a splash of cranberry juice is always good.
Put a pitcher of water in the fridge. Add some cucumber and lime slices. If you want it spicy add 1 tiny slice jalapen~o.
I read this too quickly and thought it said “jell-o” and I was trying REALLY HARD to imagine (1) how to slice jello and then (2) how jello could possibly make my water spicy…
(my kid has his wisdom teeth out yesterday, so jello is top of mind.)
If you want it spicy add 1 tiny slice jalapen~o.
Sorry I didn’t respond to this sooner.
I started experimenting with monk fruit and other low carb low sugar options a few years ago. It takes a bit of experimenting so keep that in mind.
What works for us (2 in household)…
I heat small batches of monk fruit in water (not fully boiling, just to dissolve) at 1/2 monk fruit:1 water. Obviously you can adjust ratios to taste. Because monk fruit has a tendency to crystallize, I throw in a pinch of xanthum gum to stabilize. Then I infuse with herbs/fruits/veg/CUCUMBERS (my fave) overnight…sometimes in multiple containers for options. Remove the extras after 24 hours and use the simple syrup however you choose. If it crystallizes before use, just heat a bit. It will keep 2-3 weeks in the fridge.
I’ve also experimented with first infusing the water before adding the monk fruit. That works too but the heating to dissolve the monk fruit seems to dilute the flavors I’m looking for.
That said, I keep infused water in my fridge all the time without any of intentions of using in simple syrup. It’s just fun for me.
I’m a big water drinker, fill my Brita all day and use it to fill mt countertop ice maker as well. I like unsweetened iced rea, either purchased or homemade (combo of black, green, chai tea). Sometimes a flavored seltzer for a change. I do not like soda or sweet drinks.
Adding to my post, I’ve been considering getting a Soda Stream or similar product because I do enjoy carbonated beverages and infusing water myself. Thoughts? (If it isn’t off-topic)
I’m a Southerner who grew up on sweet tea. I can’t drink it anymore after going low carb a few years ago. I just don’t enjoy sweet flavors like I used to (in beverages, desserts, etc) I wish I’d needed to watch my weight sooner in life because it would have been healthier. As my better half says, I’m just vain enough to make these life changes. (Jokingly of course)
I am envious of the Athletic Brewing folk (some in my family) because I like to sip wine, but don’t need the alcohol, and have never been able to find a substitute that feels remotely like the real thing and also doesn’t cost a fortune. AB seems to replicate beer better, according to my sources.
I drink coffee several times a day (half/half and sweetener), La Croix often, and maybe one Diet Coke a day (yeah, I know…)
I like wine, too, but I have not found any NA wines that would not taste like diluted grape juice. The only exception is Lyre’s version of sparkling wine. That one was quite good. Not exactly champagne, but good enough for our guests to ask us to open a second bottle.
I really like this NA beer but it’s a bit pricy and does have calories so I don’t keep it around the house…I’d “binge drink” it if it was in the fridge all the time!

We got a Berkey Filter during the pandemic and it was the best purchase!
