I’ve suddenly become obsessed with perfume. (According to research, it might be a GLP1 thing). I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Coach Love. After that it’s Sakura Snow, but it doesn’t have much staying power. I tend to like things that are light and airy and non intrusive. You’d have to get up pretty close to even realize I was wearing anything.
Just ordered Kate Spade’s Cherie and Walk on Air, DKNY Be Gorgeous and Elizabeth Arden White Tea. I got great deals (37% off their already low prices) at FragranceNet.com. The DKNY and Cherie were testers which makes them very inexpensive (Testers are brand new, just packaged differently, as they are meant to be shipped to stores to use as testers. Usually it’s a plain box and just a plain cap rather than a fancy one. )
There was a fragrance I adored at least 1,000 years ago, but can’t find anywhere and couldn’t say where I got it, it was a tiny roll on - called Fresh Mown Grass. OMG! The idea of it still sets my heart racing. It was so fresh and bright - only the tiniest bit on my wrist.
I’ve often been heard saying that if a blind person asked me to describe the color green, I would take them to a freshly mown lawn, a bright green lawn. And I would tell them to take a deeeeep breath. THAT is green!
I have been partial to Jo Malone in the past. Still like that brand. This past fall I was in Athens and got a sample of korres cashmere kumquat. Went back the next day and bought the full size. That’s what I’ve been wearing lately
Joe Malone tends to be too strong for me. I love the candles, but the perfume doesn’t work. I love the smells though.
The only 2 I wear are Hesperides Fresh Grapefruit and Philosophy Pure Grace.
When I was younger Ysatis by Givenchy was my favorite. I may still have some around, but I haven’t worn it for years.
I haven’t been wearing fragrance much lately but love Jo Malone Orange Blossom as well as her French Lime.
Scent memories are so strong: my mom leaving for an evening out with my dad in a cloud of Miss Dior and my college roommate always using First by Van Cleef & Arpels. I wore Oscar de la Renta perfume at my wedding.
Ok, friends…I looooove perfume. My favorite gifts are perfume discovery sets- a great way to sample of bunch of scents from the same house. And my favorite thing to do while traveling is to find niche perfume shops and check out scents that aren’t sold in department stores. There are whole Reddit subs on perfume, if you’re ever wondering about a specific one (like the fresh cut grass) just post on there and the amazing fragrance nerds will probably be able to identify it within a few hours:) I agree with Demeter on that one, btw. Some of my favorite perfume brands are Serge Lutens (go to their flagship store in Paris if you ever get a chance, it’s amazing), Zoologist, and Etat Libre d’Orange.
I love perfume as well. My daily wear is Grand Soir by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, though as it gets warmer I usually wear his Kurky scent instead as it is lighter/brighter.
Used to wear Flower by Kenzo but as I got older the scent changed on how it worked on my skin. Same thing happened with Acqua di Gioia by Armani, another past favorite.
I love grapefruit scents as well, but they never smell as good on me as they do on others. I wish they did, as it is one of my favorite overall smells.
I don’t wear many different perfumes; I’ve worn Eau D’Hadrien by Annick Goutal for 25+ years (light, grapefruity). I have just added Replica Jazz Club by Martin Margiela to my winter repertoire.
Not to be a downer but I landed in ER with vertigo and continuous vomiting from exposure to a perfume. At the very least, perfume is a migraine trigger. Please be careful where you wear scents!
My favorite is/was the original Michael Kira. Unfortunately it has been discontinued. People would ask me what I was wearing because it smells so good. I am heartbroken that I am using my last bottle.
I love perfume. I loved Oscar de la Renta and Chloe back in the day! Now it’s Maison Francis Kurkdjian Petit Matin or the Baccarat Rouge 540. I also really like the Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi. I remember my grandmother smelling of Estee Lauder Youth Dew.
For years, I was very sensitive and couldn’t tolerate most scents. Something changed in the last couple of years (hormones?) and suddenly, I can wear perfume. I alternate between a knockoff of Le Labo Santal33 and Philosophy Amazing Grace Lavender.
