I’m planning on playing field hockey @ Choate. I’ll probably end up on thirds, but I was wondering about working out and stuff over the summer. My current school has given me a calendar of optional-ish workouts and stuff to do to prepare for JV (I still get their emails, but I’m not going back so…). From what I can tell, you work out for 1 hour every day except Sunday and are expected to stick to a semi-strict diet.
Apparently, I should be working on strength training and running (6 miles a week) in conjunction with a pre-planned workout. They have some, but because I’m not going back, I don’t really want to use them. They said to focus on anaerobics, aerobics, bike workouts and bodyweight stuff. I instead made a workout plan on Youtube that’s basically an hour long. (It’s a playlist with a five minute full body stretch, several videos from FitnessBlender: warm up cardio, 2 10 minute at-home workouts, and a five minute cooldown). I’ll then run a mile a day. I’m concerned because their (the old school’s) workouts are more thorough, not to mention focus on sprinting and other things. Does anybody have some really good workouts? Are there any other good ways to really prepare for field hockey? I’m not the best with my stick, but I live an hour away from my school and most of my friends are away at camp so I don’t really have many people to pass with. I don’t want to do the strength training unless it’s absolutely necessary because I don’t really want to go to the gym or anything. Would this workout effectively get me in shape for field hockey? I’m not out of shape to start with but I just want to become a better player.
I was wondering if I should do this to prepare for Choate? Or is this unheard of? I just want to know if working out will actually benefit me as a player.
My mom is on a juice cleanse right now but I can’t do that because I’m allergic to nuts. Cleanses are all made-up though I’m pretty sure??
Also diet-wisse, I was thinking about like Whole 30 or something with cheat days or the Mediterranean. I’m not really good at diets so I think maybe I’ll just focus on eating “clean”?
Okay, so the workout is actually only around 40 min, I’ve just realized.
NVM we got the official field hockey workouts from choate
