If UCSC has posted an estimate, it’s overestimated (which it’s supposed to be). Although I don’t know the exact rates or estimations for 2010-2011 year, I can easily look at this year and last year to tell you it’s pretty off. I spent $300 on my books last year and sold back most of them, so I basically spent $100 on my books. UCSC listed book and supply costs to be $1392 for the whole year. Also the transportation field proves to be a bit of a mark up.

If you want to see how much you will pay, basically take your tuition fees (those are exact values) and then estimate your books, personal expenses, and transportation. I believe I spent around 22k last year all together, but tuition rates keep increasing every year.
