finding full-length plays for monologue choices

My D has found monologues she’d like to do for her auditions, but can’t find the full-length scripts. It seems like the schools want the applicants to have read the play they’re auditioning from. Any suggestions on how to find these plays or should she just do the monologues she wants and not worry about reading the play itself? She’s gone into the drama bookstore in NYC; I’m pretty sure she’s searched Amazon, but will double check on that.

I would not choose a monologue for which you cannot locate and read the entire play. It’s true that schools want the student to have done that, not only so that they are able to discuss the play but also so that the student is familiar enough with the character in order to perform the monologue in context. This process is selective enough as it is, and you don’t want her to be taking a chance like this.

stageplays.com is a good resource.

Samuel French online has a lot, too.

Thank you!!!

Dramatists Play Service and the Drama Book Shop are other good places to look.
