If the weather cooperates, we’re visiting Shenandoah next weekend for an open house at the conservatory. It’s also listed as an audition day, so I’ll be on the lookout for some nervous-looking parents and students. It will be my son’s first glimpse of college/conservatory life. Thanks to you all, I have some ideas of what I’ll be looking for and the questions I want answered. Do you all have any other words of wisdom?

My D is an acting student who is a Sophomore at Shenandoah and I would be glad to answer any questions you have as a parent. This has been a wonderful place for her, she has absolutely blossomed. The kids are a tight, supportive group, the opportunities to act are numerous (shows, musicals, student directed projects to name a few). She is able to continue her dance classes in her regular schedule and takes voice lessons from one of the teachers on a private basis. We could not have chosen a better place for her.

Photomom5, that is good to hear. I’m glad your daughter is enjoying Shenandoah. We were all looking forward to visiting, but my son and husband are both sick. Lucky for us, there are several other open houses this spring.

I am so sorry…my daughter said today it was cold but beautiful this weekend. Feel better soon!
