First Daughter's College Choice?

Has anyone seen mention of where Malia will attend college?

I had heard NYU and Barnard were in the running…

She was on the Stanford campus two weeks ago. However, she is apparently interested in film, so that my mean she heads to a school in LA or NY.

I heard Barnard

Bottom line: nothing’s been announced. I wouldn’t speculate.

@pacnwmomof2 Agreed that Stanford isn’t usually the first school that comes to mind when thinking of top film schools, but Stanford would provide a top-notch education and it has highly-rated film program with a decent reputation. The Hollywood Reporter ranks the film program at #13 on its list of Top 25 Film Schools in the US: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/best-film-schools-2015-top-828483/item/stanford-university-top-25-film-823605

Plus they’d have a lot of their security processes already worked out from the Chelsea days

(Sad that there are no reports of Malia considering USC, where my son had an unimaginably wonderful experience in the School of Cinematic Arts…)

I was sure I heard a couple weeks ago she announced Barnard.

April Fools. ^^^^^^^

She was at UChicago for the first admitted student days but I don’t think she is really planning on going there with her interest in film. Probably just making the parents happy visiting.

Did you read the article? Satire…

She grew up in Chicago before moving to DC. Her dad worked there. She might have changed her mind on her major – that happens!

If she wants film school then she should pick USC.

I don’t think Malia would find UofC to be cosmopolitan enough to feel comfortable for the next four years considering her background.

@MaterS, UofC not cosmopolitan?

Huh? Do you have a different definition of the term?

She doesn’t have much more time to decide!! (Unless her choices give her a grace period beyond May 1st)…

Perhaps they are waiting until after May 1 to announce so that the chosen college doesn’t get overwhelmed with increased yield.

@ciervo, or maybe it will have the opposite effect

@ciervo – Maybe it would be exactly the opposite. No one wants to be part of a circus for four years.

Maybe she wants intellectual vs cosmopolitan. None of us really know her…

Here is a long thread with speculation for your entertainment while we await the decision.
