I just learned there are two versions of the Pathways email we got a couple days ago. One has a total of 3 paragraphs, and the other has 4. That extra paragraph on the latter email talks about what to do if you’re accepted (“should you be admitted”) and provides a link to the Pathways program webpage.
I’ve asked some friends who graduated last year, and I’m still waiting for a few responses, but so far the people who got accepted to Berkeley got the email with that extra paragraph.
Any thoughts? I got the shorter version that only talked about waitlist and rejection in depth.
I found one sent on 2/1, subject title of What You Need to Know About Your Application
Here is the content of the email:
As you await your admission decision, we want to provide some information regarding what to do after you receive your decision. All decisions will be released on or before March 29, 2018. When decisions become available, you will receive an email notifying you to log in to MAP@Berkeley where your decision will be available. If you are admitted, the deadline to accept your offer of admission is May 1, 2018.
Should you be admitted, you will need to select a First Year Pathway. All of these pathways offer you high caliber Berkeley courses, housing, and student activities that allow you to build pride, trust, and community with your peers, faculty, and staff. If admitted, you will need to select your pathway after accepting your offer of admission by May 1, 2018.
Should you be offered a space on the wait list, you must opt-in if you would like to be considered. If this applies to you, you will receive information on how to complete this. If space becomes available, we may offer admissions to some students who opted-in to the wait list.
If you do not receive an offer of admissions or wait list, it will not be a reflection of your academic abilities. We encourage you to consider all of your other educational opportunities.
This is what the OP says second longer version, he didn’t receive this one but without the ‘should you be admitted’ paragraph, am I correct @intricuit ?
Actually, upon further research, this extra paragraph is also dependent on what major you applied to. MET applicants don’t get it because, if admitted, the pathway program would overlap with MET work. I believe engineering applicants also don’t get this paragraph since there is no pathway program for the school.
People here are worrying over nothing… the email is strictly based off of your major. I highly doubt that Berkeley would intentionally create different emails based on the admission status of the applicant.
I don’t have the 4th “If you are admitted…” paragraph. Looked up the first year pathways and they all seem to be for the college of letters & science. I’ve not applied there, so maybe that’s why I don’t get that additional paragraph. At least that’s what I’m hoping is happening here! Can those who see the 4th paragraph confirm which college they’ve applied to?
