I am also an international student, I have access to class search and I got waitlisted today…
I just got in today!!! My COA never changed. And I can start searching classes from yesterday. I am a transfer, really weak GPA lower than 3.0. But I think my interns helped a lot. So for the people with weak GPA don’t lose hope!!! Good luck!

@designermelissa I have applied and got accepted to FD for AAS for Fall 2017. I am sorry of your results, but I am willing to give you some tips, and my what records. I am a senior in high school and I have a 3.8 GPA unweighted and 4.1 GPA weighted. I did not take any Ap or Honors class except AP and Honors Studio Art, so I prefer to take easy classes and get high grades. I think the most important element of admission process is the essay, your creativity, and your gpa. GPA does not have to be great but not below 3.0. For the essay, I prefer to get proofread before you submit. For me, I concentrated more on creativity. I related my piece to social issue.

@Isabellareyt Thank you! I would love to talk about it more in depth. In FIT, there are two essays you have to write: Admission Office Essay and Essay from your major.
Admission Office Essay: The questions for this essay was “What makes you a perfect candidate for FIT? Why are you interested in the major you are applying to?..” For this essay, just answer how you feel. Write why you want to go to FIT, and why you want to go to your major! For me, I wrote about my experience in my childhood and how it fashion design came to my life. Also, I did some research about FIT, and showed that I have a great interest in the school.
Essay from your major: This really depends on your major, but for Fashiom Design, the prompt was “provide an example of when your point of view differed form a teacher or employer during an evaluation of your performance. How did you handle the situation?” For this essay, I also wrote about my real life experience.
Overall, I feel like the essay should be from an actuall experience. A lot of people make up their story and miss the key element, which ruins the fun and interesting part of the essay. Also, think of a time of your life that is different than others! This was a big struggle of my essay. My life is boring than others, and extremely not active, but if I think about it, there are some moments that I am different from others! Most importantly, try to express who you are as a person and an artist!

Hey! I just got my letter and I got in for Fashion Design AAS for Fall of 2017. I’m an International Student and my COA never changed but I could access the class search since the past two days. FIT has been my first preference since the very beginning. For those of you still awaiting your results, please don’t lose hope. Can’t wait to meet you all in Fall!
