FIT Fall 2017 Applications

What does COA mean?

Hey guys do any of you guys know if for EOP it is required to dorm or if they at least cover the housing? Just asking because I know for some other colleges dorming is required for EOP students

@alsg66 yes I applied by the FEB 1st deadline but I guess it’s just taking longer.

Interntional students? we’ve asked to submit a final transcript … showing a minimum of c grade in all the courses we’ve attended. My course had 7 subjects. I have a C- in one of those subjects. What would happen now? I don’t want to email them about it as telling them about my bad grade seems like a bad idea. can someone please help me out? Do they consider the grade of the whole course or each and every subject in the course? I’m really worried about this

wait, so for the people who got accepted internationally, what was on your site map?

@rebatown My daughter was also wait listed. Where else did your daughter apply and get in? Has she made a decision where she’s going if FIT doesn’t come through? Our daughter was also accepted to all of the other schools where she applied (also 5).

I submitted my SUNY application on 1/31 and my materials on 2/15 because I had to wait for my student identification number to submit my portfolio. I did not know that I had to submit my TOEFL or IELTS score because I’ve been in America for 8 years and my others schools waived it. I still did not get my notification so I called FIT today and they said my application is incomplete!!! TODAY IS APRIL 3RD!!! SO I ask them to waive it and MY APP IS COMPLETED TODAY. THIS IS INSANE AND IT’S SO NERVE-WRACKING… I applied for interior design. Do you guys think I can get accepted?? Should I ask them if i would still be considered for that major/admission term? because they told me they’ll going to review now and notify but they don’t know when it would be…OMG this is my only choice…tbh I cried a lot today.
I think they should’ve send me email or something to notify that my app is still incomplete.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT THIS
THANK YOU

@Cassidydemons THen what if your major is closed? are they not even going to review your app?

@bbbyeeee I would call them tomorrow and ask those questions. There are people that have applied late and still were accepted. You did apply past the deadline for both the application (January 1st) and supporting materials(February 1st), which may hurt your chances unfortunately. The best thing that I would suggest is calling them as soon as you can tomorrow when the admissions office opens. Good luck.

@Heytherescarlet can you tell me more details about how it is changed??

@Heytherescarlet is that true ? u did not get any email ? are you sure about that? cuz i called the admissions yesterday and they said certain people get that especially unternationals… and those got the email was accepted students
admissions told me i only going to get through a mail ; so i df thought im rejected but thn i could see class search on my MYfit account

@Isabellareyt Yeah, suree. This is my email id: ashna.moogi@gmail.com :')

@nicolelee1213 My MyFIT only changed a few days back. I could not access my Site Map before that. However, since that past two days I was able to access the Site Map with the Ethnicity Survey and the Class Search.

And yes, I did not receive any email before receiving my letter even though the letter was marked 24th March. However, after I received my letter yesterday afternoon, I received an email saying that I have been accepted and my letter has been sent out and if I don’t receive it within 7-10 days, I should contact admissions. That email contained an attachment of the soft copy of my letter but no tracking number.

If you can access class search, I think it is a clear indication that you have either been accepted or wait-listed.

@texmomof2 only 3 of the 6 schools my daughter applied to have the Textile/Fashion Marketing & Advertising - FIT, University of Hawaii and University of Rhode Island. The other 3 schools would just be a Marketing major. Right now it looks like URI will be the pick. Awesome school with a nationally accredited Textile Marketing program, beautiful campus and many wonderful opportunities through their program. URI does an exchange with the Univ. of Hawaii and with the Kent State Univ. satellite campus in NYC. Not to mention many exchanges abroad. She went to accepted students day the day after the FIT wait list letter came and she felt very good about their program. How about your daughter?

@bbbyeeee I know the student who got accepted last year, she submitted her TOEFL in June. This was too late but she was accepted. I think you still have chance. good luck!!

I just called admissions and they said that they sent out my letter yesterday, so I asked why I haven’t got the email and she said it’s because it was sent via regular mail, not express. Guessing it’s not very good news. She said I’ll be getting the letter next week… There hasn’t been any history of international students getting acceptances with regular mail right?

This is really frustrating because I’ve been able to access the class search and ethnicity survey for a few days now

@rebatown Congratulations to your daughter - great options! I have heard wonderful things about URI. My daughter is fashion design major. She was accepted by Pratt, SCAD, Kent State, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Univ of North Texas. Kent is by far the best from a financial standpoint - cost much less and gave her the largest scholarship. We visited and she was impressed with the program and school, just wishes it were on the east coast. Pratt is a top choice, but cost (even with scholarship) is the most of all schools. She was so hopeful for FIT. I wonder what the odds of acceptance are for wait listed students? I can’t imagine very many get in.

Hi @rebatown, I applied to FIT last year as a first year student and I also got waitlisted. I emailed FIT within minutes of getting my letter to tell them that I want to remain on the waitlist. I didn’t hear from them until July. It was a very long wait. Please don’t get your hopes up because that’s what I did and I was so upset when I waited almost a full year just to hear that I didn’t get in. If you really want to go to the school, I hear that actually physically going to the school for tours and interacting with the admissions team could help you. This shows that you’re passionate and serious about your future at FIT. I would also start writing another essay, If you’re going to apply again. If you re apply don’t submit the same essay. there has to have been something they didn’t like that wasn’t entirely strong enough to just accept your daughter. With the waitlist a lot of people don’t decline because it is one of the more affordable schools with the same education as someone who is going to parsons. Hopefully this help. Wish you the best

@texmomof2 Congratulations to your daughter! It sounds like she has some wonderful options! I am assuming you are on the east coast…my daughter too was so hopeful for FIT. My guess is that our girls will be in full swing with choosing roommates and may have even chosen classes at another school by the time they hear from FIT. My daughter did immediately email FIT saying that she wanted to remain on the waitlist. Two other girls from my daughter’s senior class also applied to FIT and one was also waitlisted and the other was rejected…
