Have y’all seen the video of the last finishers in the NYC Marathon? Made me teary and want to run another marathon even though it’s been almost 30 years since my last one.
Is that the one I saw recently on FB, with the ladies holding hands? Hmmm.. that may have been a half marathon.
Yes I def saw it. I believe it was literally evening in the videos. A finish is a finish and it’s a glorious one! ![]()
Oh I loved that video. And kudos also to the people who cheered for them at the finish.
Loved those final finisher videos! So touching. As a former cross country runner - feeling that huge effort and commitment.
If you’re looking to up your protein, you can try TVP. I like it straight, but you can mix it 50/50 with your Fiber One.
I eat this so often, I have it bookmarked. I find it really easy to pack a bag of TVP when traveling to have a high protein breakfast on hand. You can also mix it into yogurt for some crunch and added protein and fiber.

Thanks for the suggestions. TVP is a new term to me. I see Bob’s Red Mill has some TVP - I usually like their products. TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) | Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods

Does anyone have an app to recommend for checking off workouts? I don’t want to input my whole workout. Just a simple check on days I did a workout. Ideally, different colors for different types of workout (yoga, cardio, weights). Most of the habit trackers I’ve come across are way too complicated and I get lost in the minutia. I’m also not looking for “streaks” as these are not workouts I want to do every day.
Would something like an excel worksheet work for you?
I didn’t know where to put this but saw ‘health’ in the title so…
When was the last time you saw a recipe that uses lard as an ingredient…and instructs you to save it to use in another recipe?
I already have one that I made for tracking biometric data, but was hoping for an app (preferably with a widget) so it would be constantly handy on my phone. I like to check off things as I do them.
I can see the appeal of that approach. But no tools/apps to suggest.
I enter my foods into MyNetDiary app (mostly for nutritional tracking). I also enter activity in a very simple way, by minutes for walking, stretching, pickleball, running or cycling. Tis not precise. And not a checklist. But works for me.
My son encouraged me to get the Fantastical app. It pulls in all your appointments and reminders into checklists. You can make one for fitness and other things. I don’t use it as much as I should - but it is nice and clean - not complicated…
What a gorgeous sunrise and a beautiful day for coastline 1/2 marathon this AM.
Lots and lots of grade (hills) on this one, but then, I did get to see a whale spouting water in the Pacific. Timing-wise, I missed my goal, but I wasn’t too far off.
So, I completed my 2025 goal(s) of competing in a powerlifting meet, completing a Murph (several actually) and a 1/2 marathon within a 6-month time period. ![]()

Anybody do TRX fitness classes? Tomorrow I’ll attend a free orientation to the TRX equipment at our rec center, a prereq to enrolling in a class. Not sure if I’ll pursue it any further, but I’m curious.
Since I started exercising to age well rather, than to lose weight or wear a certain size, I’ve made so many gains that I might not have noticed before. My planks are so easy and strong, I am more comfortable crossing my legs, I can do full situps rather than crunches, and when I go from a plank or down dog into a lunge, I can get my foot all the way to my hands rather than having to walk or pull it up. It may seem silly, but it’s the last one I’m the most excited about. It’s a move that dogged me for years, and I’ve watched countless videos and how to do it properly. Today, I didn’t even think about it and did it with no problem. All of the sudden I realized that my foot was right by my hand with very little effort. I love that I’m seeing real results when it comes to strength and mobility.
Edited: Note- I’ve been working out with my Tempo exclusively since late summer.
What is a tempo??
Funny - I just asked my DIL if she thought TRX system was “worth it.” She said I could borrow hers to see. I will have to see if there are any classes near me.
