Hi, I already have classes from 7:15am to 3:23pm and there’s an Introduction to Philosophy (Which I absolutely adore) course at a local college that I want to take (Half a year, only three days per week), it starts at 4:30 and ends at 5:45… I wouldn’t get home until About 6:45pm… Is it a good idea to take an extra course??? Would it waste time in my day or not?

Definitely a good idea!
colleges want to see that you are hard-working, and taking college courses.
plus, it isn’t all that long either ^_^

Philosophy is awesome so… yes, it’s a good idea.

Take the class. I’d kill for one.

No it would not be a waste time, plus Introduction to Philosophy sounds intresting seems like it will be a fun course!!

kidnovelist, you have to do that! As long as you pace yourself and enjoy your learning, you will be fine.

My niece is going to be working like that in the fall, because she almost ran out of high school courses to take in Math, Science, and Latin-like, there is nothing left at her level. She is coming in to live with me the middle of this month and we learned about the full extent of her smartness during the summer.

As long as you pace yourself and stand up straight and tall and be proud at the College- own the fact that you are smart enough to take it but be nice about it and then you will rock your course.

the course sounds really interesting. i say take it! it seems like you would really like it. i wish i could take a course like that. oh since you like philosophy, have you read Sophie’s World by Jostein Gaarder? i read it a few weeks ago and it was really good. it goes from the beginning of philosophy to now but it’s a fiction book.(in case you haven’t read it)

No, don’t take it; it would be the worst mistake of your life. First it’s “fitting extra classes”, then it’s cutting, and pretty soon you’ll come home drunk, blowing chunks. And then in the morning you dad will be like, "Man, why did you name your dog ‘chunks’.

i think it’s a great idea.

It’s a wonderful idea considering you WANT to do the course. It’ll be good for you to learn about a new course and have fun at the same time, colleges will be impressed.

Thanks for your support. I think it’s a good idea too but my mom doesn’t want me to take it. Should I apply anyway? lol -_-’ How do I convince her I could take it?

It sounds like you’re a very competitive student, and probably are aiming for a top university, so you could try showing her what some of the students you’re competing with are doing. I’d say definitively do it, 6:45 is not that late (I get home around 8 every day, but I have special circumstances), and it’s only three days a week, for one semester. First semester is always easier, so you can use that in you argument.

deafeninghorn: what are these special circumstances you speak of? because, this is the first time in my life saying this, you end school later than I do (5:30 three days a week 3:40 two days a week)! wow.
