I am looking to transfer to one of these two colleges. I am currently a sophomore; studying at Washington U. of St. Louis, engineering program. Which of these colleges has a better engineering program? Wash U. has an excellent engineering program, but I am moving to Miami soon, and because I am in such a great program I do not want to degrade.
Can you please help? I was already leaning toward FIU because of tuition, but I would like to gain some more opinions.
I will be paying out of pockets and also be using financial aid.
UM is the better school, but you’re paying for it. Keep in mind that engineers from both schools earn about the same amount of money. The difference in schools isn’t worth a crazy amount of debt.
You can check out each engineering departments ASEE profile, online, and determine which majors are offered, size of the programs, etc.
Good Luck!

I don’t see any rational reason to transfer schools like that, especially when you’re already in a great engineering program. All you’re going to do is set yourself back retaking classes that won’t transfer. Both are ABET accredited schools. The only difference is that you’re going to end up paying a lot more for the same bachelors degree, and get almost zero benefit.
