FL Prepaid plan for Deferred Action?

<p>Can a child (my brother) granted deferred action status be the beneficiary of a Florida prepaid plan? He does have a ssn.</p>

<p>You should contact the plan’s administrators and find out (see the contact number below). There is language in the current master contract that says “The Beneficiary must
be a United States citizen or a resident alien”. However, that may not apply whenever the plan was purchased or may be modified due to the “deferred action status”. Since they are already a beneficiary, it may also be something that’s not “checked”, i.e., it’s only a requirement to sign-up and not to use the plan.</p>

<p>Individuals granted deferred action status are eligible to establish Florida residency for tuition purposes.</p>

“Beneficiary” means the person for whom a Contract,
and all Plans therein, is purchased, as defined in Section
1009.97(3)(f), Florida Statutes, and Section 529 of the Code.
A specific Beneficiary may be named in only one Contract.
Each Contract must have a Beneficiary. The Beneficiary must
be a United States citizen or a resident alien with a valid
Social Security Number. For newborns, the Social Security
Number is not required when the Application is submitted,
but it must be provided shortly thereafter or the Plan(s) will
be subject to termination pursuant to paragraph 9.03
